Speaking of Sushi, one of my very good friends is Japanese- and that is one of our lunch staples. He always gets small portions- and I asked him once "Is that going to fill you up?"-- his response was "I don't eat to get full- I eat to get by". I did some reading- and this seems to be Japanese way of thinking- they don't eat until they are full- they eat just enough to fuel their body. I guess that is why they are one of the healthiest beings on the planet.
I have also read that it takes your brain about 20 minutes to process that it is full- as North American's- we tend to eat until full- I guess this would lead to over-eating.
As I read advices for loosing weight I would recommend swiming - it is very secure and sparing for your joints. I would be very careful about fast diet, one thing is to loose fat, but other is not destroy your strong-hold body. If you feel only pain in muscles, not crunching bones, then you can try something more effectual - running or lets use rather jogging . If you need some motivation, try to visit this site: Running, Running Maps and Running Routes, [AUTOLINK]Runners[/AUTOLINK] Community | MapMyRUN , I became also member of this web and it is perfect tool for motivating myself. You can map a route, after you make it as workout, it will calculate many informations, which shows you how you are doing. They are providing some contests and you can also find some interesting routes around your home. I would combine more activities, than to make only one round about. It is hard to start, but once your pass 1 mile run, you will try 2 miles, etc.. no I am aiming on 20km distance, but I had lot of to do with 15km. And the good feeling will come earlier, if you never run much or you were not good in school in this discipline as I was not. My last advice will be around using running boots. I am big and heavy and using usual sport boots was good only for couple runs, then my knees screamed for a break. Before any activity try to get use for stretch your body.
I start every day with the exact same breakfast - 3 over-easy eggs with mushrooms, a bowl of oatmeal (not instant) with a cup of mixed berries in it, and a cup o' joe.
The rest of the day is relatively variable, but I find that a stable breakfast is absolutely vital (especially when you live on the west coast and markets open at 6:00am >.<).
As far as exercise goes, for some reason I do my best intellectual work when I haven't worked out recently. I wish it were otherwise, but I think the adrenaline and/or testosterone dulls my edge. For this reason I do my longest workouts over the weekend, and during the week I only work out at night after the day's over.
This is really interesting about timing workouts.. I have only 2-3 hours time after I came back from work before my trading session begin and I am used to put there around 0,5-1hr workout(run, gym), but then as you say my mind is not in best condition, I feel too much relaxed or hyper-active and I cant find optimal "mood" . I am doing also excersises after I wake up, but it is not so heavy as in afternoon, maybe I could add more activity for morning workouts to have enough time for regenaration or to get my mind back into a good status. It is not so difficult to stay focused in the work as during trading session.
Past three weeks I have not lost any weight. So much going on, and I am still eating well, I really thought I would have. But haven't. Discouraging.
Diet is same, still not going over - still eating well, even better than before probably - more fruit, less sugar as I am now making my own tea instead of Snapple.
I have stopped eating wheat of any kind((bread, cereal, bars) during the day. I have been doing it now for 2 weeks, and I feel less tired during the day. Like the rest of the guys here I am glued to my desk, and the less I eat food that require more energy to digest the more alert I am. I hope I can stick to that because I just feel great.

Exercise needs to go along with diet. Don't weight yourself. All it will do is frustrate you. Eat well, drink lots of water and exercise. I Know you are not an exercise guy, but it's part of the deal. If you can swing the cost use a trainer in a gym. It can help with keeping you consistent.
A friend of mine who has lost about 50 pounds in the last year told me that snacking consistently every three hours keeps metabolism up. An apple or a banana every three hours is best because they give you energy. I have not double-checked this for factuality.
