Hi Mike
Thanks for the input
I am have trouble importing your indicator into NT7 build 22.
It gives an error message.
Is anyone else having this problem with the latest NT 7 build
Regards John
I haven't heard of anyone having problems. I just tried importing it on my computer to make sure it wasn't a problem with the zip and it imported just fine. So, not sure what might be happening. You might try downloading again. I'm sure this doesn't apply but make sure you download the nt7 version if you're using nt7.
NT 7 doesn't support non time based Multi Data Series. Custom indicators may solve the problem of uneven bar spacing. Unfortunately, I'm not programmer. Did you find the solution for the challenge? If you did, could you share, please? TIA!
Mike, I must say, you are incredible...fantastic tool, very impressive indeed. I find it very helpful. I write this only to help, and I may be wrong on my understanding of the Perry rules, so please let me know. Here are two samples of when I thought the signals should have appeared and did not. Also, I wanted to confirm that the signal lines only appear when the ADX in the box is greater than 25, and only when the DM Signals box says Trade (otherwise we are in Chop or End of Trend), and if I understand correctly, it is a human decision point that both 4 and 8 range conditions must be met, since NT7 won't allow programming across two time frames/range charts). I would like to discuss them with you on skype if you have time. Also, I look forward to creating a skype room of 6E (6:30 - 8:30AM CDT) and TF (8:30 - 11AM CDT) for Perry's method 1 traders. Prefer to have a few experienced futures traders, perhaps a newbie or two, who are calmly assisting in calling out what we see as they setup, the idea being we don't interrupt actually getting into a trade. ghman, gee i'm not so sure about the incredible part but thanks for the comment. No, the ADX being over 25 is not in the rules. Yes, use of the 4 and 8 is not included in my indicator in any way. YOu know the funny thing is that I'm not trading Perry's rules at all. I looked at it and obviously wrote the signal indicator and the strategy but have not started trading it and probably won't.
Your first picture showing a long does have a signal on the bar you marked. There is a green dot below the bar and a lime green line above price.
The second picture for a short has a problem with the short sma. On my chart The short sma isn't going down over the last 2 bars. I know on your's it looks like it is correct but bottom line is something in the rules disqualified that as a valid signal. I don't have any other explanation withoug physically getting on your comptuer which i really don't want to do. One of the problems with using indicators to display signals is that they evaluate conditions exactly and I've seen times when the way things look on the chart may be just enough different that visually the signal looks good but the signal indicator doesn't see it the same way. Those are most definitely exceptions but it does happen.
Let me say this as well. My intent in writing that indicator was merely as a training tool to help me identify the signals more accurately than I would on my own. If you disagree with the indicator based on what you see on your chart, then my point to you would be that it's a valid trigger bar even though the indicator doesn't identify it as such.
Hi Mike, thank you for your response. Here is my point, I should have been a little more precise. TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, 2010-10-18_1950 Again, I am not criticizing, as your work is excellent and appreciated. Also, is there any way to tie the 4 & 8 together so when we have both sigs, we go (or is that the point you and someone else were already talking about on here). Also, is there a way to add a query of the ADX box to see if greater than 25, i.e. have that part of the signal set?
Lastly, any way to code this into a strategy for NT7 (perhaps using Beth's former NT6.5 code), including the visual signals you presently show?
