Whole grain bread naturally made with yeast or better sourdogh (and no dark colouring from sugarsyrups) with butter or a very good margarine with polyunsaturated fatty acids, french cheese or air dried ham, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots and other fresh stuff, egg and some southern european style roasted coffee, made well with not too hot water in a french press or well made FTGOP darjeeling tea, sometimes also muesli with fruits and nuts.
But i have to admit i really LOVE the american style of breakfast, heart attack burgers and bbqing very much, also.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
As you might know Mike, you are losing weight because you are not
getting enough calories to maintain your weight. This is fine for the moment as I assume you
are losing the fat (fat is a "reserve supply of energy") you always wanted to. I hope you'll
post every mid-month with a short update. I'm curious to know how you'll feel after that excess
fat is burned off.
I've been blending spinach, broc, carrots, honey, pears, apples, bananas, blueberries, grapes, strawberries for a while now. I drink a little less than half a gallon of this blend every morning. After that I munch on almonds. Move onto oatmeal, beans, pasta, etc. I eat mostly a raw diet but I also eat out for dinner 2-3 times a week. These are usually health orientated restaurants or at least the meal that I order is healthy.
As far as weight gain/loss, it's all about calories in vs calories out. Macronutrient intake is also key in how your body looks.
I went from 145lbs. to 185 lbs. with 12% bf over a span of 3 years. This of course was coupled with weigh training 3-5 days/week.
I then cut down to around 7% at 170 lbs.
That was a lot of work. I'm now at around 170lbs. at 12%, 2 years later.
Impressive Mike...Kudos.
I was having some gallbladder like pains(I know sitting in front of the screens has not helped my gut pressure over the years) so I was drinking Apple cider vinegar (3 tablespoonfuls in 1 liter),3 liters a day to flush out the system. It helped!
Also concocted a Apple cider with pulp smoothie, drank that for 3-4 days. Lost about 5 pounds with exercise(2 miles on treadmill daily).
Got a history of diabetes in my family among other un savory diseases...at forty something if you dont start taking care chances are something will catch up.
Its all in the diet...go to Sprouts and Whole foods as well, little more bucks but seems to taste and feel better after consumption.
I also take a baby aspirin a day now.
Also on Omega 3..2 caps daily.
Kyolic(garlic) 2 caps daily.
Milk Thistle
Theragram like MVI
Vit E 800 units
CoQ 200mg
Going in for a physical in a few weeks...lovely prostate check time!!
I doubt my testesterone levels are what they used to be either....more suppliments!
If you like milk thistle, you will certainly like NAC.
It's much more effective at cleansing your liver than milk thistle.
This is from personal experiences as well as google lol.
As far as what type of whole grain bread to eat, the best kind is probably NO GRAIN bread. Starch makes you fat and wheat seems to have some toxicity to humans. Starch turns into sugar. SUGAR IS THE ENEMY. SODAS HAVE NO PLACE IN YOUR DIET. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. Sorry, if you don't like that, just keep doing what you are doing and see where it gets you. But what do I know, meet me at the finish line https://cascade.org/ on July 14 if you want to make your case for the typical American diet.
Click on 'ingredients' for more info. This is a very basic simple supplement.
For those out there that aren't going to go the full 10 yards, this could be tried.
It doesn't contain everything however. At least you'll know how you're getting most of
your trace minerals, like: manganese, selenium, zinc and iodine. Iodine (for your
thyroid gland) is easy enough to get in iodized salt, but the others are not easy
to get on a bad/sad diet. Also contains vitamin E, C, etc. etc.
There are many, maybe too many companies out there. Willner has discounts
on some supplement manufacturers. Including Solgar. VRP and Solgar have each
been around for decades. All the other ones I just am not familiar with, even though
I'm sure many have high quality products.
you are one of the guys from the board that I would like to meet. Even when you are totally correct you still manage to get under my skin...that means you are a total jerk or you expose the open nerve with precision.
So...
Last night I actually had nightmares about this thread or I should say about my own diet as it relates to my health and this thread. Indeed I am not 10 feet tall and bullet proof anymore.
I have been competitive and an athlete my entire life but in the last five years I've not just fallen off the wagon, but rolled far enough from the trail that I need help to find my way back.
To those of you that have posted here, I'd like to thank you and ask that you respond with one absolutely "do this" and one absolutely "avoid this". I will start my research and my action based on the input from you guys and track progress here from time to time. Mike please don't start with give up all meat. While I would start down that path an abrupt zero animal diet might cause the planetary rotation to fall out....I will limit progressively based on your recommendations.
Is there any background information that would be helpful?
