Entered 1 contract at a pull back level where price was rolling over. I was green the trade from the start which was nice to call the top of a bar. Last night price rolled over and hit my stop.
I was overall bullish the pair, however it seemed allot of others were starting to become as well. Also the weekly pivot gets hit allot of R1 is hit the first half of the week.
Ok i have now optomized my algo to death and got the stop loss syntax done . Now my platform has the commission built into the spread but i have abided by the rules and added $2.06 to each trade in backtest to reflect results , naturally in auto this will not be reflected in returns so i will add $2.06 to each trade after final results to reflect the rules as they stand . I have no idea how this actual algo will perform as its a rush job with only entry really properly done , exits and stop are all pure money management with no trading parameters taken into account , i have really just curve fitted the trailing stop , total stop and take profit target . I would not be totally surprised if this is a flop but i'm hopeful it will turn a profit . i have done none of the usual in sample , out of sample walk forward work you would normally expect so its a coin toss really . Will use this exersize as a rolling test bed and hopefully in end have a neat algo to trade EU , as time progresses i will work on exit parameter outside risk management but for this month will using the running algo for entire month , see where this ends up in a few months , should be interesting ..
@JMP3 nice trading! @Ozquant, really looking forward to seeing how your strategy works out.
I was looking to go long for a swing, and the opportunity I was looking for presented itself around 8-9PM last night when I was spending some quality time with the little mama... way overrated ... I kid! I kid! So I'll continue looking.
Meanwhile, I'm heading into town to meet with a guy about a job with a local Ferrari Challenge team. The idea is kind of exciting, but I've been self-employed for nearly 20 years so... we'll see what happens.
Edit: Here's what I was looking for on entry. Missed it:
Ok mean reversion is the objective of my algo , atm i have entries based on premise of the annoted points/ indis on chart ( pictures say a thousand words ) . Eventually by the end of this experiment exits will be based on similar concepts rather than static TP SL trailing stops i have currently .
Ok this is what you get going live on an algo straight out of the mould , my stoploss syntax counts total point exposure not points per contract so that trade exited before i actually expected . Has just gone long as well , not exactly acting as i expect . will let it ride though . Evaluate tommorow
Thanks Rrrracer... As I always say, "family comes first". I was looking to go long last night around 21:17 hrs est but the thought of babysitting a trade through the wee hours of the night didn't appeal to me, so I skipped the opportunity. Instead I woke up at 4 am to analyze the charts where I place my trade around 04:40 hrs. Good luck making the Ferrari team, post some pics of the super cars if you get a chance. Also, nice looking matching parallel lines.
