However, I would suggest building one yourself. It is not hard to do and you can get more bang for your buck and replace your own parts. You do not have to be a techie to learn how to do it.
Also multiple cores will not help you much in live trading but will help immensely in backtesting. So get as many cores as possible if doing alot of backtesting.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
you can always rebuild the OS and eliminate all the crapware... no matter which vendor... but yes, Lenovo provides solid systems... I only use their laptops and none other.
The issue is a lot of OEM's these days don't provide original OS media. Only "restore" media, to use their secondary partitions on your HDD which take up wasted space and all that crapware is still there.
Finding an OEM that includes original media is rare.

This is another place I was looking t before I went with ZT , they have decent deals too, you can choose all of your own components and get feedback on what works well together and what does not that is within your budget you set , on their forums https://www.ibuypower.com/
IMO building self is not as cost saving as once was, unless you have parts and or OS you want to use , I priced many different ways including building but between Motherboard, CPU , memory , case and OS you get more for the money by getting a complete system at least if you are upgrading from an older design where many parts are obsolete
The good thing about doing something like IBUY POWER is you can substitute hard drive for SSD , choose power supply, video card etc..
also looks like they are giving a free upgrade to six core I7 , which I imagine is pretty nice

I was just going to say what @GridKing mentioned below... one can always buy the OS at a discount online when purchasing other components that make the cost cheaper... but I see your point.
I buy most of my computer components from newegg.com.
I read customers' product reviews at Newegg and buy the best computer components (case, power supply, motherboard, processor, RAM and input devices) I can afford at the time.
That means:
1. Every 4-5 years or longer, I buy the best (expandable) computer case and the most powerful power supply available. Input devices like CD-ROM and DVD drives are fairly inexpensive and I upgrade them on this time schedule, too.
2. Buy/replace hard drives when I need to; always trying to increase size and reliability,
2. Every 1-1 1/2 years, replace the processor, motherboard and RAM with the emphasis on MORE speed and MORE capacity.
I used to assemble computers myself, but to save time (and to get a fully tested computer) I've found a local technician at a local computer servicing company who assembles and tests them for around $200....all depending on time spent. And, I can call him anytime for help. Find a local technician who can do the same for you.
With this approach, I get better components and a fully-tested machine that's upgradable for less than any comparable fully-assembled computer available online or at a retail store.
I got an iMac just to see what all the hype was about and quickly became somewhat attached to it.
I had absolutely no intention of getting rid of my Winblows trading computer. After a couple of months of playing with virtual machines and running the trading software on the iMac, I was thoroughly enjoying multiple Winblows virtual machines and the built-in UNIX command line. (grin)
It is absolutely not for everyone, and for myself, I found the learning curve to be pretty darn steep.
The result is that I can have a completely different Winblows virtual machine running connected charts and order entry in about 1 minute if the active machine has a problem. Of course if the iMac fails, the Winblows machine goes down with it, so a trading backup is still a necessity, don't you know.
Therefor, if veriety is the spice of life for you, as it is for me, I invite you to give the iMac a close look.
I bought a Falcon F-15 computer from Trading Computers and it is a lemon. I have had nothing but trouble. I would not recommend them. They have good tech support, however. But they have not been able to make this thing work and I've spent 20-40 hours with their techs on the phone over the past year. Their product is more expensive than other mfgs I have looked at. The best that I've seen is EZ Trading Computers. They are about 1K less and have better componests that the Falcon from Trading Computers. I'm going to buy one from EZ Trading Computers and throw this Falcon in the trash. It cost 3 grand.
