I guess you are at the core of my question there. It is not my intention to exclude data at all. I was in fact wondering why that happened when I use one of these templates. I pick an instrument, and in the Data Series dialog I tell it to be based on one particular template. Thats all.

So if possible; just let me know how to set this up without losing data/information. As I am obviously doing something wrong.

For one more illustration. The following to charts are of the 6E today. One of them with "Use instrument settings" template and one with "US Equities RTH". There are no other differences in my setup of these two.

Looking at the charts at 9.30 AM, one of them has an ADX value of approx 25 and the other approx 35.

Of course there must be a difference, because with the template US Equities RTH you exclude all the night session data. Therefore the indicator calculates the data series values from the remaining data only.

But why do you apply that session templates US Equities RTH to the Euro? This template is meant for stocks, not for FOREX.

The session template lets you select

-> from which data your indicator values are calculated - as you noticed you may exclude data from your calculations
-> the start and end time of the sessions, which in turn can be used by various session indicators

Thanks for the last clarifications.

I thought I could use the session templates to specify times of the day when I myself feel the liquidity is best for my strategies so that the strategies wont enter orders at other times. But by getting confirmation that the actual data are in fact excluded, I realize I cannot do that.

So I will continue to implement my entry logic (filtered by hours of the day) in the script instead.

That is correct. If you want to limit the execution of your entry and exit signals to specific hours of the day, then you need to code timefilters and check for the filter before entering or exiting a position. Session templates with data holes cannot be used for this purpose, as this will affect the input values for all indicators used by the strategy and change the indicator output accordingly.
