(1) I use a session template which subdivides the session into the "pre-session", "regular session" and "after hours". I am not trying to show the London open. However, you can add an indicator which displays vertical lines at any selected time for any time zone.
(2) There is an indicator, which displays the average daily range (as opposed to the average daily true range). It also displays the current day's range. For example today's current range is 0.15 points, while the average daily range was 0.61 for both the last 10 and 20 days.
1) Session templates cannot be downloaded. You need to create them via the Session Manager. Just enter the times that you wish and make sure to select the timezone of the exchange.
2) The true range is a modified version of the range that takes into account the gap.
The indicator that I had used above to display the average daily range is the anaCurrentDayOHL V42 from the SessionPivots V42 family. With the specific template it is possible to display the session range of the regular session or the full session range, as needed.
I have created the new session template, how do I load it??
Downloaded the indicator family and applied anaCurrentDayOHL but I recive this error message: insufficient historical data...
but I'm sure I have 25+days of data... what can be the problem?
If you set the indicator to a lookback period of 20 days, then you would need -> today + 20 business days for calculating the average range = 21 business days.
As you do not know whether the first business day on your chart is a complete trading day, the indicator will not use the very first business days, therefore 22 business days are required.
On a Monday (today) 22 business days translate into a minimum of = 32 calendar days, as you need to add 5 weekends.
If you do not have 32 days of data, you can alternatively reduce the lookback period.
Awsome, now we are rollin!
How do you know this stuff??
Anyway: I still couldn't figure out how to adjust all the settings accordingly (and load the sessions template approprietly :-() could you just send your template please?
I only need:
- ADR(10)
- Current day range
- Verical line at Frankfurt open, London open, London close and US close
- 50-200 EMA in grey (managed to do it)
- HAS (WMA7) (managed to do it)
- and maybe a histogram for the current day.
For vertical lines, please do not use a session template but just a vertical line indicator. The session template is only needed, if you wish to calculate the daily range based on the session of the underlying bond market. Otherwise you can use a simple template.
For the anaCurrentDayOHL you can set all plots to transparent / disable options, which you do not need.
The panel dispalys daily range and noise data the way it does. This cannot be altered without modifying the indicator code. The noise is the failed move from the open, that is the smaller of (High - Open) and (Open - Low). The average noise can be used to determine a breakout point, where price will either be reflected, if it was only supported by noise traders or where price may breakout from the opening range if supported by other timeframe traders.
Vertical Line:
If you had used the search function of the forum, you would have easily found this:
Thanks Harry, the vertical lines indicator worked!
For ADR I saw your older version indicator which only displayed ADR(10) and current day range. Can't find it now thou...
Besides I'm looking for only one last thing: volume/price histogram (or market profile) with the most simple settings usually which the DOM uses but on the chart.
