Hi Todd, I ran into a similar prob on another indi that I was developing. I think the issue is midnight, and I am not (yet) clever enough to get around that. Is there a way that you could run the indi twice, once from your open time to 23:59 and the other from 00:01??? I have not looked at your indicator, but saw your post and thought that I would add my 2cents....
I am Brand New here. I have downloaded the Opening Range indicators. Must be doing something wrong. The Opening Range times I am looking for are the first hour on Futures GC and ZB from 8:20 am EST to 9:20 am EST and on CL from 9:00 am EST to 9:30 am EST.
I have been trying to adjust for these times. NEED HELP!!! New Here, new to trading, new to Ninja.
romus: The PC clock does not matter here, what is important is the choice of the correct session template. The session template should reflect the trading times of your instrument. A session template 24/7 is always false, because there is no instrument …
Select an appropriate session template for each indicator (reflecting ETH trading times), then apply the indicator to the chart, select session # = FIRST and use an offset that reflects the difference between the start of the trading day and the start of the regular session.
offset GC: 8:20 AM - 6:00 PM EST -> offset = 14:20 hours
offset CL: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST -> offset = 15:00 hours
offset ZB: 7:20 AM - 5:30 PM CT -> offset = 13:50 hours
In the attached screenshot of the ES, I am trying to specify an opening range of 9:30AM -- 12:00 PM Eastern. I am using the CME US Futures Index ETH session template, and I believe I have configured the settings correctly, but I am expecting the range to be the same width as the yellow rectangle.
You have an option called Extend OR plots until close, which I have set to False, so I am wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Sean Mills

@grantwood: I do not understand your question. The opening range that is displayed is correct.
The opening range plots extend until the next session break. If you use a session template that comes with several sessions per day, the option allows you to extend the plot until the end of the day.
With a standard ETH template the plots will extend to the end of the day anyhow.
