I plan to not see it due to the gratuitous use of the "F" word and the amount of sexually explicit scenes. Scorsese's just an old perv.
I think I can get the plot too without seeing it: charismatic, ambitious young kid makes a lot of money on wall street by swindling a bunch of people out of their money, then eventually it all comes tumbling down on him. Sounds like half of the movies DiCaprio is in.
Why wait.

I saw it a couple weeks ago, I liked it. As far as the profanity is concerned I wonder who it is that actually counts how many times a particular word is used... I couldn't care less, I didn't even really notice it.
I guess I've been in Chicagoland to long.
Well if you're into the humor involving the excesses of wealth, sex, and drugs then you'll like the movie. It's not for the faint of heart. I was surprised nobody walked out because it was so over the top but I guess going into any r rated movie after the hangover series you have to expect nudity and that level of filth lol. It has zero to do with trading and even still very little to do with being a broker. I guess the producer assumed no one would understand that aspect of the movie so they left most of the details out. With all of that being said It's still well made, well acted, and worth a re-watch.

Agreed. I will certainly be watching it again sometime down the road.
Sure there's profanity and sex,...but the story is based on the real wolf. So anything else would be a complete lie in which case why bother making the movie? The movie shows us the life he lived, not a watered down disney fantasy.
Exactly, and Leonardo Dicaprio wouldn't have picked it if he thought it was going to be a flop. I thought he played the role well along with Jonah Hill. Margot Robbie made for some nice eye candy along with the back drop of the rest of the scenery that the 100 million budget went into. Jordan really lived that way according to his book. To cut it out or water it down would have made the movie corny. I believe, over the last couple years, film makers are less apprehensive about adding off kilter crazy humor into movies because of how realistic they can make it seem.

It over-glorified sex, drugs & alcohol to a ridiculous extreme. How many orgy scenes were there, 3 or 4? It was like watching a silly action movie where there's just 100 to many explosions (Rambo VII anybody?).
I think it would have been a better movie (for everybody) if they added to the story, rather than just highlighting the excess. He was ripping people off. Lots of people, lost a lot of money to this guy, and I thinking showing that in some way would have made it a better movie.
I thought the movie was over the top when I watched it. To now learn that some of the facts are questionable, and only based upon his say-so (do you know he was never known as the Wolf? That was just a name he gave himself when he wrote the book) makes me even more un-inclined to watch it again or recommend it unlike many other classic trading movies that I can watch multiple times. (Trading Places, Wall Street, Boiler Room etc)
