Adam knows his data ahead of the event, knowing the range the number is likely +/- the expected number as well as the range of the product he is trading based on those news figures.
What I really liked about his presentation was the fact that he stressed how much homework he does before the news even hits. In the past, when someone said they were trading the news, I always pictured a trader just watching CNBC and reacting to it. His method is to be proactive which comes from his experience. Very interesting.
As for his hardware, I can see the benefit it would bring in a racing market off of news. I have a programmable keyboard which I use in a scaled down version of what he has, with a one button in and out, or, out and back in. Couple that with a NT strategy and way less cliking, saving precious milliseconds. I also have a panic button that will get me out of everything in case I jump into a hot tub and end up back in Sept/08.
With the future addons he mentioned for the hardware package, I think it would warrant another look.
