Upon further investigation, I now realize that the above-mentioned "worst case scenario" is actually worse than reality, at least in NT7. It turns out that the OnMarketData(MarketDataEventArgs e) method in an NT7 indicator receives incoming market data even outside of the time window defining when the chart is updated. So, even in the above "worst case scenario" your form/window should still toggle its visibility properly (even without you reapplying the indicator to the chart) as soon as the next market data event arrives for the chart/instrument that houses your indicator.
