I played around with this a little and attached a time based P&F chart using the parameters you mentioned in your second post. It looks accurate based on spot checking the data.
Not sure yet how to use this kind of chart, but I am generally interested in cycle analysis.
In order to create this, I just added a standard zig zag to a 60 min chart with a 6 pt reversal.
I next added a line based on the slope of the zig zag (+1 for positive slope and -1 for negative slope). This is the color bar based on slope study for SC. Then I added a study to cumulatively sum this study. The result is the lower graph which is the same turning points as the zig zag except that it has a slope of 1 or -1.
Now all I did was make this lower graph the main graph and added a P&F of it with a box size of 1. This gives a new box for every hour.
The scale is just based on how much data I had loaded. I could specify the starting point.
It is possible to start to load the data from that time?
I think it will set the start at zero on the y-axis which is OK
but if you can chose set it at 1890.25
Thanks
If its by hours then I think you need to use the ruler to get the number of bars
the 618 is too long depending on how your chart shows data
ES closes fro 15 and then 45 mins and on weekends closed Friday even sat and sun
This should be close to the right start time. It is easier to just let zero be the starting point. In a downtrend we would get a negative scale.
Scale adjusted a little to show boxes better.
Whole time period.
This last one is just for reference. It is a 4 hour box size going back further, so it is a different scale. It also consolidates some of the zig zags because of the settings I used. Number of bars for reversal was set to 5.
I think you have a better idea from your comment in the last post regarding the origin.
In the summary post on page one I've added some stuff on cycles things I'm sure you know but it leads to why try P&F presentation. Perhaps you would like to offer what you see in the charts?
If you make a chart like your zig-zag and the point and figure overlaid -if that can happen - I think we can start to look for patterns together.
And what about introducing the volume (in the horizontal axis, in the vertical axis) and its derivatives (cumulatives, etc). Wouldn't it be interesting?
P.S.: Thanks for managing a Quick Summary Post. It is always very very useful. I miss it in many many threads.
