No, the Heiken Ashi indicator paints candles, even if you select OHLC as bar type.

Heiken Ashi Candelstick oscilator, as described in the December, 2008 issue of Stocks and Commodities by Sylvain Vervoort has a period variable setting for length. I can not find that in the NT7 version.

One step further would be to include a cycle period element that when "on" would adjust the length to suit market conditions.

In Vervoorts work there was also "on/off" switches for coloring the bars, displaying a directional bar and for displaying the oscillator. While the NT code references the article it also parses the work, why? That is like leaving 6 letters out of the alphabet.

I have the original article and non C# code for the Vervoort version with cycle period. I would love to have that in the toolbox and I think many would see value in it if anyone is interested in taking that on.

Is there a modified HA bar for NT7 which shows the open and close as a bar chart the same way metatrader does?

HA smoothed seem like there is a need for seeing the price bar so this is a compromise sol until a real coder shows up.

- candle outline color can be different from candle color
- candles can be displayed according to the original definition by Dan Valcu or the modified definiton by Sylvain Vervoort
- candles can be displayed on a lower panel


I have also added a second indicator, which allows to color any chart according to the Heiken-Ashi trend.

Had played around yesterday with Heiken-Ashi Candles and applied them to various moving averages. Then posted i an trading journal. I plan to add this feature to my Heiken-Ashi indicator, but would love to have some comments first. Posting it again here...

There was a small bug in the previous version of the HeikinAshiX indicator. I have now replaced it.

The Butterworth, Gauss and Supersmoother Filters were not called correctly, and therefore always produced fast trendfilters. This problem did not affect smoothing with other moving averages.

I will shortly update the HeikenAshi indicator in the download section to include the options of the anaHeikenAshiX.

After some testing, I have now updated the HeikinAshi bars in the download section. The anaHeikinAshiX versions are now obsolete, as I have added the smoothing to the main indicator.

These are the changes:

- HeikinAshi candles (according to Dan Valcu or Sylvain Vervoort) can be smoothed with a Median, Mode or 27 different moving averages.
- The resulting trend can be displayed via a separate paint bar indicator.
- The paintbar indicator exposes the trend as a BoolSeries and can be used for an automated strategy.
- I have modified the code for allowing a displacement.
- The plot has been optimized. Both indicators will now either show an uptrend or downtrend. The few neutral bars, which only appeared on the Heikin Ashi candles have been eliminated.
