Video Journal -
Even on days like this I feel like I am making progress and improving. I look back at my results sometimes and wonder how is it possible to do this poorly given as much work and training that I have done. Time spent is not equivalent to skill I know, but it seems that a completely random system with decent money management would have a pretty good chance of beating my performance. How can this be?
Feeling very tired tonight. Up at five am the last few days, working a lot, hitting the gym and some yoga classes, then trying to study and keep focused. Today I feel really good, not great results but my overall reads were very good. My entries and timing were not great. The line is very thin between having a losing day and big success.
Off to bed to hit it hard again in the AM....

Had some big issues with slippage on the SIM today that wasn't realistic. I have traded oil live over hundreds and hundreds of trades and was never slipped like I was today on sim. So I adjusted my stats slightly here so they don't match the image exactly. I had resting stops order in and would have been filled and not slipped 8 ticks. This is the problem with sim, I am focusing on getting off sim ASAP but I have been through this before. Without a positive expectancy and rock solid error-free execution, it will not go well, and donating my money to the market. I feel I'm getting much closer though after this week. Feeling good, tired and optimistic and energized all at the same time.
I have to do a better job of journaling about my specific trades and setups. I have the number stats but need to track exactly what was the result of trades that didn't work out, vs. BE trades, was the read correct, was I completely wrong, was there an error made? All of those things are very important. I feel like many of my trades the context read and the trade idea is correct but is not managed as well as it could be. Which feels great but not providing me with great results.
I didn't think this was going to be that long of a video journal but evidently, I had a lot to say. One of my better ones so far IMO. Watch it 1.5x speed and is much more bearable

I continue to have problems with my SIM trading executions. Today I had a stop hit a tick above where price went to. My largest loss of the day also went on to go to my target and would have changed the outcome of my day by nearly 50 ticks. I need to work on a strategy to make sure that this replicates live trading. I always make sure that fills trade through my price, and that any stops are triggered when price is touched. These are the most common issues I see on demo. I like the changes I have made to trading multiple lots. I see the potential for getting myself into trouble, but for every trade, I have a "line in the sand" number that must take me out of the trade. There was a trade today that didn't work out as per my expectation, but since I was trading a two lot I was able to manage my risk and get out for a small profit where on a fixed one lot position this would have been a loss. With the average rotations in CL being large I think an all in all-out strategy is very difficult. My previous mentor did it with a lot of success but I have never had success with it.
