I would just add something that changed my thought process is the idea that "data science != software engineering".

If you want to learn to code because of markets you are most likely interested in data science and not so much interested in software engineering.

If you want to learn software engineering javascript is a no brainer the way python is for data science.

I would have saved a ton of time I wasted learning React and Javascript when I really never had any interest in software engineering.
