I once saw a video showing a DOM analysis software. It showed a continuous stream of information as the price moved. That video got me interested in developing something to analyze the DOM. I think it is mostly valid for ES or other high volume/high liquidity contracts.
RJ has some indicators which plot the depth of the market and so on. This software would take it to the next level and try and analyze the movements within the DOM.
Some examples are:
Change in distribution of orders within the ladder: Are traders moving their bids or offers closer to the market or away from the market?
Level Replenishment: How often are bids and offers being replenished as they are being hit?
DOM Flashes: Are traders flashing large size in the DOM? Often they are designed to move the market in the other direction to get better fills especially during lower liquidity hours (lunch)
DOM Persistence: Are large size/bid offers increasing of decreasing in strength as the market moves towards them?
PIQ (Priority in Queue) calculator: based on when the order is acknowledged by the broker.
