Yes that is as far as I have got and I know about roonius but here is the catch - if you don't know the source code how do you learn?

eg say I want that button to do something else - you have to pay all over again. Its not a long term proposition - eating fish and learning to fish springs to mind.

Sounds negative but it is more frustration.

Computers weren't invented at my school so all my "programming" ( I use that term loosely) has been self taught. Coming from the tradestation community I learnt EL to a pretty high level with the help of the community there but NS keeps 'not supported' for anything beyond plotting an ma( ha ha).

right... but it isn't available currently in NT6.x ... so you would have to go "outside" of the normal NS coding... if you are struggling with C# already, that doesn't seem to be your best option. There is plenty to learn with all that is currently available. Also you might be able to contract to have the source code for inserting a button... then you'd have the code and could do as many as you'd like.

I haven't found that to be true at all... there is tons of stuff there if you poke around... even in the NexusFi (formerly BMT) community itself... so if you already know everything there is to know in the available NT and .NET methods and properties and constructs, you should apply to become a NS Consultant IMHO. or maybe stick with TS... esp if you already have expertise with EL there... personally I left TS due to many things, but largely their lack of EL support and abyssmal and incorrect documentation.

I am so far from 'understanding" C# it's embarassing.

Yes I too left TS but for wholly different reasons.

I have come to the conclusion that I may well have to go back and pay for the tool strip buttons but it really goes against the grain. Like I said - I have 90% of it done - I just can't work out the control thingy?!

Since you mention documentation - is there a reference for the Controls specific to NT anywhere that you know?

no... sorry... but Mike might.. and sometimes roonius pops in and replies... I'm just starting out with C#... my first guess would be to check out the net framework methods and properties... also suggest you post in the NT forum if you haven't already... obviously there is a way to do it.

Nice to know we have someone in the group who has the ambition and adventuresome spirit to even go after it... Please report back if you flush out anything. This would be a great "code snippet" to add to the collection.
