Both is possible. As it depends on self-fulfilling prophecy, I will probably to continue to watch both options and then find out, which works best.
The volume gradually shifts away from the regular trading hours. The volatility and volume during the European session are approaching those of the US session. When the physical floor has disappeared, there will be few arguments to cling to the RTH session.
However, I tend to favor the settlement price over the cash close. My indicator allows to select from both ETH and RTH session and cash close and settlement, no problem with that one.
I was shocked to learn that there are no floor traders left. I thought MF traders are all on the floor. They told me 3 months ago, they pulled everyone off floor 3 years ago and they only trade off floor. According to them only option traders are left on the floor.
To me it seems like, 80% of trading opportunities are done by 11.40 pm, right after euro close unless there are macro news and we have a trend. Look what has happened today and yesterday after 11.30. Nothing really, unless one gets a position and hold and PRAY.
