On Wednesday's i use OR of 8.30 am till 9.45 am 99.25- 96.99. Some body was looking at 99.25. Short, 99.16, stop loss 99.31.
cover 98.70. Thats all one can do during reports days or be long with enough buffer zone to accomodate noise. Target is 98.50, scene of crime for
breakout of Glob-ex high but I did not wanted to wait for another 20 minutes for 20 ticks. 98.50 breaks, 98 becomes target, and so on.
So, based off my OR, we have a failed A down so far.
As usual I covered too quickly, CL back at 98.20. 11.04 am. Waiting to see what European close does to the 98 level

Yes, FT even though dominant trading is done between 9- 2.30 pm eastern time. Mark fisher started using
cash close as reference
points 5 months ago, so i switched also.
There is no official rule, how to use the pivots .
Both is possible. As it depends on self-fulfilling prophecy, I will probably to continue to watch both options and then find out, which works best.
The volume gradually shifts away from the regular trading hours. The volatility and volume during the European session are approaching those of the US session. When the physical floor has disappeared, there will be few arguments to cling to the RTH session.
However, I tend to favor the settlement price over the cash close. My indicator allows to select from both ETH and RTH session and cash close and settlement, no problem with that one.

I was shocked to learn that there are no floor traders left. I thought MF traders are all on the floor. They told me 3 months ago, they pulled everyone off floor 3 years ago and they only trade off floor. According to them only option traders are left on the floor.
To me it seems like, 80% of trading opportunities are done by 11.40 pm, right after euro close unless there are macro news and we have a trend. Look what has happened today and yesterday after 11.30. Nothing really, unless one gets a position and hold and PRAY.

Like most of the days, CL easy trading opportunities were over by 12 pm. Right after euro close.

40 to 50 ticks moves may be noise for lot of traders but this is what I want everyday - with more volume and lesser holding time.
Prices moving up and down 60 ticks in a minute- i find difficult to trade. I call this trading Price Action .
Sorry for Jim Cramer - the CLOWN- picture. I love watching him sweat at John Stewart show from couple of years ago though.

I just notice that for the 3-day-
pivot range you used
-> the
ETH high and low
-> the last traded price at 5:15 PM
EST
whereas I typically use
-> the
RTH high and low
-> the settlement price around 2:30 PM EST
My rolling pivot range is therefore at 95.16 / 96.55 instead of 95.17 / 96.76
Fat Tails,
I like your 3DRP tool where it shows both ETH and RTH, that's very cool.. Where can I get my hands on one of those?
Thx,
Jedi

Just apply the SessionPivotsRolling V38 indicator twice, once with ETH setting and once with RTH settings.
Also select different colors for the pivot ranges.

Seems like when trading went electronic, energy and metals activity shifted from NY hours to London hours.
