1. It is a way to check in on myself.
2. It is a way to keep myself honest.
3. With a Big Mike Journal you can either be great, lie, or stand naked in front of the world telling all.
Thank you Big Mike for the little nudge you gave me a while back suggesting that I start a journal. Thank you all to the ones that from time to time give thanks. I have to get on more threads and thank others as there are so many other great contributors on this BBS.
It truly is amazing what the little Thank You from others can mean after a days trading when you look at your last post prior to your daily entry.
Funny thing is I am doing a better job now keeping up with my Big Mike's Journal than I am with my own personal daily journal.
TY again All.
p.s. If at looking at my journal someone thinks I am doing right just from the bottom line today; well I can say that today was mostly a bad day trading and I really traded poorly. Had it been a cash money trading day my account size would have had to been well over 50 K for the number of contracts I had on at the lows. I was stubborn and while it may work once ultimately it will end in failure.
Well Keeping it honest. Just fear of success or what, who knows.
Today was an exercise in stubbornness. Have to get all under control.
I'd say that this is not the way I'd do it with real money, but truth is already have and that is why still SIM.
When I consistently make money SIM then I'll go back to cash, not before.
This week was a train wreck that ended up being a scratch week, yet lots was learned.
TY to Ratfink and Big Mike. Always nice to see that others online. Working toward trading discipline.
Feel that when it makes sense I just may have a chance here.
I want to let you and all your readers know that in October nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) has a Trading Journal contest w/prizes. The contest runs October 1 to October 31, and the three best journals (as decided by nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) members) will receive a 150K combine from TopstepTrader.
Continuing in the tradition of encouraging journals on futures.io (formerly BMT), I am announcing a new Journal contest for October 2014.
The rules are extremely simple:
a) The contest begins October 1 and ends October 31. All decisions made …
That thread will be open for posting starting Wednesday, October 1. As the author of your journal, you need to make a post in that thread linking to your journal, and then ask users to press the "Thanks" button on that post if they want to vote for your journal to win the contest.
Members can vote for as many different journals as they want. Votes are cast in the Contest thread only, and only on the first post made by the author of the journal that contains a link to their journal. This is done so I can easily count the "Thanks Received" by author/journal, and award the three prizes.
KEY To Not Getting Distracted:
1. Limit ZUMA Web to one game a day! Period (Not trading day, Day day)
2. Journal
3. If you don't feel like trading don't
4. Take frequent breaks. (Yes sounds counter to what trying to do but when at machine we have to focus on being there. If I try to sit at my trading computer for the entire session I find that I have spaced the entire day at the end of the day.)
5. Now here is the toughest. Start making MONEY Trading.
Thanks again Big Mike for all that you do for all of us. I will accept your challenge this year to produce a serious trade journal. I had to look around and find out what in the world a 150K trade combine is, well not sure if I am too keen on that one; but truth is I need all the help that I can get. Feel like I am at the crest of the wave and just about ready to break through.
Hmmm: Titles to posts within a thread. Here and I thought it just may end up creating a new thread. Isn't trading and computers great. You can push all the buttons to see what they do. Then if you do it with your live trading program find out you have entered a trade by accident.... Enough ranting for today.
