ES took 2 trades today. First one was executed perfectly. Second one was a roller coaster ride. Looked like that will lose. I did one mistake. My weekly target of 40 ticks was achieved after first trade. So I should have just stopped strategy. Anyway ES bot got 47 ticks this week. My weekly targets are achieved and I will stop ES bot for this week.
CL bot has not taken any trades from last 2 weeks. I think it's not making sense to continue with it. I am going to write similar bot on QM this weekend and see how it behaves.
I did not take any live trades on M6E today. market was too choppy in afternoon. I did not feel comfortable. It was correct decision. I would have lost another IB trade.
Today no bot was running. My weekly targets are achieved in SIM.
I did one live trade on M6E but then exited quickly at breakeven because I realized it was against the trend. I made right decision. It could have been a loser.
What your doing is called "graybox trading." This is a combination of using manual discretion and blackbox/automated trading. The discretion is usually used to determine if the market conditions are ripe for trading opportunities based on your perception of the markets. What is automated is the execution of your trade plan once you feel the conditions are ripe.
I think this is the best of both worlds because you are using your mind to determine market conditions but avoiding potential psychological problems of pulling the trigger and minimizing execution errors.
I was off trading this week. So did not post anything here. I am developing a new strategy on E7 (mini Euro). I am scrapping my strategy on CL because it's not working. So now I will have one bot on E7 and one on ES as before.
ES bot took 1 trade today. It was good for 14 ticks. E7 bot did not trade today.
I tried to enter a manual live trade on M6E around 3pm on IB breakout of 60 mins chart. But then breakout did not happen for 30-40 minutes. So I cancelled that trade. Later on it was a huge winner.
Market was too choppy in afternoon. ES bot took one trade and it was a loser. Still waiting for first trade on E7 bot. Friday is options expiration day. And historically I have seen that options expiration week is usually choppy or not tradable. Let's see how goes tomorrow.
Down market in morning and then it went up in afternoon. ES took 1 trade today after 3pm. It got 15 ticks. Still no trades for E7 bot. I am thinking of revising E7 bot this weekend. No live trades today on M6E. There was one chance to go long in afternoon around 1pm. But I did not take it because it was a counter trend trade.
Tomorrow is Friday and options expiration day. So I will not trade.
