Well, the computer I use at home is an HP home office computer that is four years old. It's run quite well with both my charting app (MultiCharts) and my trade entry system. Only 2GB of RAM, too.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
check out cyberpowerpc.com - a bit of a mess to navigate through their options, etc. but you can figure it out in 30 min or so and get what you want. They're cheaper than dell outlet and other options I looked at (newegg, tigerdirect, ibuypower, etc). You should only need to spend a grand to get everything you need and more (i7, 8-12gb ram, 2 vid cards)
I tried the USB extra monitor option (EVGA) and it worked only OK - I would use it on my laptop in a pinch but for a home machine, I would go with a proper video card.
good luck

I agree, I've heard good things. If you can't build it yourself, then I would definitely recommend buying from one of those types of companies as opposed to buying from Dell.
I have been doing some heavy research over the past 2 weeks on a new trading PC (desktop)...Now I am not a PC guy, so I have leaned on a few other traders who know computers very well...
The thing I was continually pointed to was keeping an eye on the Dell Outlet site for a T3500 that fits the specs I am wanting...
You can find some amazing deals on there, oftentimes these setups come with the crazy expensive 3D graphics cards...my plan is to just pull the card and sell it on Ebay, and replace with a Nvidia 295. These are outlet PC's but, they are basically brand new. The previous owner has 21 days to return, so many times they are unused, and they go back through the testing phase, and come with the normal 3 year warranty.
Just to give you an idea of some of these deals...I have found 2 setups in the past week that both were on sale for around $1,200. Now they both came with a high end 3D video card that was selling new for close to $900, and used ones were on Ebay for $600. I priced out the PC on the normal Dell small business site, and both new were around $2,800. The processor alone (Xeon W3690) is priced at $1,100 on Newegg.
So for about $600, you could get an amazing setup! And just add a few Nvidia 295 video cards for around $100 and add your monitors and you have a 3K setup all for about $700.
Now these things go fast...both times this past week, after I had decided to pull the trigger, both were already sold.
