your story is my story as well! More or less the same. Spend thousand of $ around on several webinars, ebooks, books etc in the last few years but still here... cant pass through to the other side.
So many times i was that close to give up! I also had some threads asking "should i give up trading?". Guess what? More of the traders were telling me "yea you should", "dont waste your time", "4 years and still nothing? Go home buddy" etc etc... only few of them were saying "dont wait for results before 5-10 years". After a short investigation i made i found out that the most experienced traders were the ones that were telling me keep walking!
Anyway i m still searching for the right path. So far the most successful methods i ve used are Supply & Demand (Sam Seiden webinars) which they still work and use in my method and fibs.
Heard from others saying - "decide on what u can afford to loose in trading " . Quitting a job and expecting a living from trading is a huge mistake, especially if you have a dependent family. If I hate my job I should switch to other one which I love. (and no likes to work btw )
In any strategy you can calculate returns , success rate etc. but what you cant calculate is the " time" , it will take to meet your expectations.
In the beginning one should work on daily time frame. and review the trade at the end of day, over the week end etc. rather thinking about it whole day while on job ..
Nice initial post, keymoo. I've also seen some of the same info on my journey. The one thing that attracted me and kept me going since 1997 is Pristine. I still consider some Al Brooks technique while analyzing the market, they seem to be very similar.
I also exited trading, had careers, and returned. My issue hasn't been finding a system that works, it's been developing my ability to trade a working system. I had deep psych issues that I've only recently changed. Change is hard.
I did things to help me survive the long, long, extended loss time. Recently I've been limiting loss to $50 a week and depositing $50 each week to my trading account. It did a lot of things to help my psych issues....
So this is my gain month, best in 18, so far, 3 weeks positive. It's been 4 years, which also kicked in some psych power to my most recent change. I could easily fill a book with what I've been thru. I do have 1500 journal pages,
You are determined and have perseverance like those of us who survive the early and lean years.
Big help also has been Dr. Brett Steenbarger and his 3 books, but also his lectures. There is a very good one on youtube. It had very few hits even recently, but transformational for me. ....midnight on a Friday and I'm still doing research, that's just nuts, but I also have had many 14 hour days, and all-nighters, etc.
