aknip - You know NT7 is now available? - though it is still beta it is reasonably stable.
Why spend hours translating something that in 3 months will be redundant?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
mindset - you are right. I am already working with NT7 but for live-systems I still prefer 6.5. This is why I still try to develop in "6.5-mode" as much as possible to make sure that I can use all strategies/indicators/chart-types etc. in my live-environment, too.
I have tried to import your WickedRenko into newly intalled NT7 B15 but received the following error message:
"Import failed. The NinjaScript Archive File may contain duplicate method names that already exist on your PC or there is a required file missing on either your PC or in the import archive."
I've read that "Any backup archive or NinjaScript archive created with Beta 14 or later will be incompatible with any prior Beta release" from here:
"Any backup archive or NinjaScript archive created with Beta 13 or earlier is compatible with Beta 14 or later"
Well, when I read that, I would say that the version I made available is ok, as it was exported with B12, so it should be compat with B14 and up.
Did you originally put the source in another dir? Search your drive for the WickedRenkoBarsType.cs file, if it is in two places (i.e. also in the indicator folder), you are going to get this name collision error. If you find a second copy somewhere other than the Type folder, delete it. The zip file should be installing it into the Type folder.
Anyway, attached is a new zip file exported from B15. Hopefully that will work. If it does not, you can always take the .cs file fom the zip file, place it in your My Douments/ NinjaTrader7/bin/Custom/Type folder, then recompile any indicator and restart NT to pick up the changes.
Note: the attached zip file is the same code as before, only exported from a different version of NT.
I dont use templates, so I am not sure what is broken per se. I would be happy to fix it, if I knew what was wrong, but I suspect it is something deep in the flawed NT design.
The templates are basically an XML file that saves all of the options in text key/value pairs. The range and renko have different parameters, so I suspect that when you load the range parms onto a renko chart you are missing a key parm for the renko chart, that causes it to puke in NT.
If this is the problem, I am not sure there is any way to really fix this, as it is all outside the renko code.
The best way around it would be to use two templates, one for range and one for renko.
If you get any additional info, let me know, and I will take a look at it.
