I was trying to set up a chart like sharky's on ZN from the Sam's thread.
What I mean is, the flatline only happens when I turn off calculate on bar close set it to FALSE.
If its on TRUE, it doesn't do it.
It doesn't matter on the settings of type of MA period etc.
Just the bar close makes it do it.
I haven't restarted NT but I did compile all those files now twice so really I shouldn't need to should I?
Thanks
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Ok I made sure it was removed from all charts and did it all again.
And it still gives the flat line when I turn off calculate on bar close when I move it away from the right margin.
As I said the only thing I haven't done is restart ninja trader.
Will you please confirm you can duplicate the issue using these settings:
So I can test on my end. It is important to me to know the exact settings and exact market (ES, ZN). I don't think you've answered the market yet either.
I just tried to export both DoubleMA and DoubleMAPaint and start again and it wont allow me because of MAV.cs(137,54) CS0103 The name 'DynamicSR' does not exist in the current context.
Ive tried on ES and ZN 6E TF and restarted NT.
I shutdown NT manually Deleted DoubleMA DoubleMAPaint and all the other files in the dmafix.zip.
Then re put them back from the zip.
And restarted it.
I then tried it on ES ZN ZB TF YM 6E
And its doing the flatline when I set CalculateOnBarClose = False.
You need to overwrite all the files when you extract from the zip. It is important.
Here is DynamicSR.cs incase I forgot to put it in the zip.
Also, I'm still waiting to hear from you on your exact MA settings so I can test that on my side. If I am not being clear please say so. Just trying to help you, but if you don't give me the exact settings to test with then I can't help -- because everything I've tried on my end works fine.
I think we have to be careful here to prevent confusion. There are two flatline possibilities .. NOT related to each other.
1. If you don't have enough historic data on your chart you will always get a flatline as the indicators still have unstable very low values.
You can see this if you move to the beginning of your data. You will see a couple of black bars sticking down on the left.
Even on a Range 4 chart I load 10 days of historic data.
2. Some users have a problem with certain settings related to the DMA/ADXVMA combination. In that case you will see a red line sticking down on the right side of the chart. (The chart tries to display a new zero value).
The latest version of Mike's DMAPaint works pretty good with me. Only one flatline of this type in two days. Some here suspect this is a NT bug rather than a DMAPaint indicator bug.
In my experience this type of flatline problem only disappears if you restart NT. Just adapting settings or reloading other versions of the indicators did not solve it for me. Also if one range chart starts to flatline my other active range charts also suddenly start flatlining.
IMHO it appears that the problem remains somewhere in NT memory. Anyway, in my case the problem will not disappear until I close and restart NT.
Also remember that only indicators in the download section are (to our expectation) considered stable. The indicators discussed on other places on the forum are still work in progress.
In any case it is advised to make good backups before importing and or testing new indicators.
I then unzipped the files and copied and pasted into NT directory and overwrote the existing files and compiled and restarted etc.
It didnt fix the problem.
I then went and deleted them all, and put them in there again and did the same thing.
Its still the same.
It doesn't matter how much data ive got, ive used differing amounts 3 days to 7-15 days.
It doesn't matter on settings of MA type period etc, ive tried 50 different combo's it all does the same.
It is specifically related to CalculateOnBarClose.
If I set that to False, it gives a flatline and moves everything to the top of the chart.
If I set AutoScale to False, it gives a long line down the chart at the end of the page but doesnt move the chart up.
I have posted a .rar file with this post, with 6 jpg's that show the conditions when the certain settings are present.
