I`ve installed latest java today and changes the memory to 1024. Let's how it improves the situation. The thing is - we are actually prepared to fund our TOS account if they can guarantee that it will actually work. Otherwise there is no point for us to transfer money into that account
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Here is a screenshot with a couple of daily charts, futures & stocks, of how it looks in my thinkorswim. The trading session at 10:40 sounds strange; only thing I would think of checking is the Time Zone in the General tab under Chart Settings.
Thanks for the pictures! I`ve just logged in and checked all charts that had Thursday's session missing on daily and starting at 10.30-11.30am on 5 minute charts. Looks like TOS corrected this issue. Hopefully chars and scripts work on Monday (I doubt that scripts will work). Hey, just a question (feel free to say no if it's too much to ask ) Would you mind giving our script a try during market hours just to see if your watchlist actually comes up with results? (if it does will just fund our account as it would mean that it's not working at our end perhaps because the account is not funded). Once again, sorry if it's too much to ask - feel free to say no
Thank so much for your help. The script is for watchlists - it's not a scan, it acts as a watchlist sorter when certain criteria are met. So pretty much we have a selection of stocks (approximately 1000) in the watchlist and the watchlist sorts itself out according to the script. I`ve just private messaged you the script and I`m just trying to figure out how to post a picture with instruction as to how to get it up and running. Give me 5 minutes to figure this out.
Some info on Java & TOS:
1/ TOS uses its own java JRE (On windows 7, you can find it in C:\Program Files (x86)\thinkorswim\jre)
So you can install/de-install any java version on your PC it won't affect TOS.
2/ If you look in Help tab, then System - you can see the memory used and the bandwith (see screenshot).
3/ I personally use another tool that comes with the JAVA JDK (not the JRE) called jvisualjm.exe (in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_51\bin on windows 7). See screenshot attached.
You start jvisualjm.exe, then select the tos process. You can then watch the heap and permgen charts (in a nutshell both reflects memory usage). You want to make sure that for both the used size is not too closed to the max size.
The max memory usage can be changed in the thinkorswim.vmoptions file (need advanced skill to know what you are doing), or on tos startup options....
Still having major issues on a Mac. TOS hangs on launch while loading My Trade and takes around 20 force closes before it works sometimes. Contacted support and they're aware of this mac problem and working on it.
One reason you may have missing data on your charts is how TOS gets their data. Maybe/ maybe not but you need to remember they get their data in blocks, so it could be a result of that
