Hi rleplae!
I have downloaded the codec and made a test compression with the setting above (looks like default).
The result is for a 1 min video with 1368*768 @ 10 fps is ~5MB
So 3 hours would be 900MB for me. Any idea why?
Thanks,
Yuri57
how my frames per second did you capture ?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?

I just did a couple of tests, avi encoding uses a kind of algorithm that registers
the delta , what pixels on the screen have changed. the more and rapid things
are changing the bigger the file will be.
I just browsed some websites and look at pictures of the worldcup in brasil
2 minutes = 37 MB file
I opened a still trade chart (1433 X 1137)
2 minutes = 2.9MB
the reality will be in between,
my quote for 200-300mb recording, were real time trading room recordings

I will try to beat the worldcup-rate
for sure rates can be optimized
i would also say, that the one codec does not fit all
it depends of what content you are trying to capture
for a situation like a trading room, where most of the pixel don't change and
don't change fast, it should be fit for the job

I am using OBS and you can set up to capture the web cam and the screen. It is also free.

I have been recording with OBS but my files are huge but great quality. Anyone have any software and settings that they use to compress their files for upload? windows movie maker has very limited capabilities.
