I am in the same boat with a day job. There is usually movement but limited volume so it can move slow. Typical ES from Friday 12/24 attached.
Europe definitely picks things up when they open. Have been meaning to wake up to trade from 2-3 am for me but has not been happening. Still like my sleep when I can get it.
Ive had a few shots in at the ES during Aussie/Asian hours its a differnt game completly, feels differnt, moves different. but everyone now and then you get some good moves be prepared to hold your trade for a while though and i wouldnt try scalping for a few ticks as its a bit choppy on most days. - Just from my observations i find i dont get stopped out as much during the asian time zone.
When volatility is like this, yes. Otherwise, no. There generally has to be a reason for international players to be trading our futures in size to really move it around during the Globex session.
Why is that Mike? I am from Canada and they are pretty much the only futures broker with reasonable commissions that would accept me as a client. I have had them for well over a year and haven't had anything to complain about yet.
Thanks for any info, sorry to hijack the thread, I am also interested in potential of Globex ES trading which is brought me here. It does seem to be more and more active, especially in Euro session.
