Saw it on my B-Day the 23rd so 3 days ago. Excellent! And that's an understatement. Superb. Fascinating. Supremely acted by incredible talent. That being said we are enormous movie fans hook line and sinker. Suspending disbelief is never an issue. But I have very little tolerance for what I feel/believe to be poor acting. Sometimes if a franchise has a legacy I'm already invested emotionally into I let that slide a bit. So others might not find it so. Just so you all know where I am coming from.
Michael Burry the real life character played by Christian Bale FedEx Christian his only suit and Birkenstocks he always wears (when he wears shoes that is....lol) for filming as part of his costume. Christian Bale and Michael Burry spent 9 hours together talking the entire time getting to know each other as prep for Christian's role. A very funny yet extremely intense movie. A good number of times right in the middle of a screen the actors or an actor will stop acting and look straight into the camera and explain what happened in real life that that particular screen was trying to portray or educate us on this crazy complex and fraudulent banking world.
I would love to go on and on but I am going to control myself and not spoil the great art that is this film for all of you.
Honestly the trailers looked kinda disappointing to me, so I'm very happy to hear it plays better than the trailer. How realistic was the terminology? I always love when movies that use proper terminology when describing something technical.

Incredibly accurate and correct. This is not a regular movie. They employed celebrities to explain diff products and terms. For example Anthony Bourdain the chef to help explain synthetic CDO's I think it was. They take a few sec to intro him and then the next shot is him in a busy restaurant's kitchen and he is explain with 3 day old fish as the example. And other people. Ryan Gosling has one foot in the movie and the other foot is in the roll of almost a talk show host as he talks directly into the camera and narrates and explains.
I understand there is Oscar buzz on Christian Bale for his portrayal of Michael Burry. Amazing guy to Google.
