We purchased a couple thousand cans of tuna this week with your help! It was $1444.80.
I'll provide some pictures and receipt in coming days, but wanted to let you know we've already started handing out the tuna cans. After some trial and error we found that tuna cans are really as ideal as we can make these meals, for these reasons:
- Compact, lightweight
- Easy to transport for recipient and us
- Stays fresh
- High quality meal (protein)
- Manta is the tuna capital of the world!
We're also going to be adding water and a bag of chips or similar. We're trying to arrange somewhere to buy those in bulk.
Right now I have only the credit card receipt, I'm waiting for our distributor contact to invoice the foundation correctly then I'll post those scanned receipts.
Thank you to everyone for being so generous with your wallet, and your hearts!
My wife secured a deal from a local grocer to put two big sandwich buns (four pieces) in a single sealed bag, for 50 cents per package. We bought 500 to start, and will be giving that away with the tunas.
I'll post receipts in this thread when everything is collected and before the end of the month.
The 2,000 tuna can purchase receipts are attached. Sorry for the very poor formatting, it wasn't sent to me in the best format and I haven't finished setting up my replacement laptop so don't have the best tools to improve the formatting.
This tuna was $1,444.80, and Oasis Americas paid from the fundraiser.
Also, total donations as of this post are $3,055.16 after the 2.2% + $0.30 per PayPal fee (501c3 rate), which today I withdrew to pay for the above tuna as well as the upcoming purchases coming in a few more days. All transactions have been posted to this thread, but at the end of the month I plan to dump it to Excel or PDF from PayPal's site and post, anonymizing the data (deleting names) just to keep everything completely transparent.
I'm really thrilled about how well we've done! And still more time in the month, plus at the end of the month my wife and I will be donating 10 meals for each journal on the site as part of our Journal Challenge -- so much more to come!
