This is when you learn the most. Analyze what went wrong and make a rule (for example max 3-5 trades, don't trade in a range, don't trade against strength/weakness, specify where your stops go) so it won't happen again. Keep going.
I was quite annoyed last evening when I blew everything.
I'm not sure what I will do over the next couple of days.
I might take the week off, or maybe focus on creating an automated strategy with excellent risk management.
I have 4 previously failed Apex Evals which will reset on Monday. I think that's a good time to get back on the horse.
If I trade today, I know I will YOLO 10 ES contracts to try and rush getting back to a paid account.
Thats not what I want to do, I don't want to gamble my way back in.
Today is OPEX day, before i realized, i already got hurt playing my PA in the morning, so lost 2 PA with Apex. So i am not going to touch PA for a week.
i took the entry below 200 ema, today , normally i WONT do this often.
Today is exceptional.
But otherwise it is great day after 1.30 PM EST, please let me know if you can filter to take only trades above 200 ema, when 9 ema cross 20 ema, and pullback to 9 ema, and ur performance result will be great.
Thanks for mentioning me, appreciate you, and all the best.
Very nice clean trades from Friday, even under the 200 MA.
Good to see you doing so well, and I hope you extract some money from the Prop firms soon!!
I already had my backtest setup as you suggest. Price over 200MA,and 20MA and then buy the 9 MA on the pullback
I tested a larger data set (1month) and I didn't get it profitable.
If I have time I would like to experiment some more with that.
Whilst my strategy was setup same, there are some subjective elements.
Like the entry for example, I am buying the 9EMA. Maybe you are waiting for the 9EMA to hold, then buy?
And then the Stops and TPs. I simply used ATRs on a 2:1 ratio..... I think you are doing them by eye.
I really enjoy building and backtesting so if you have any ideas on how to automate the system let me know and I'll give them a try and update with results and comparisons.
Not sure if this is sign of whats to come,
3 Days Tested, and Variation 2 - 9 EMA Pullback, 9<> 20 without 200 EMA Filter peforming better over all 3 Exit Strategies.
Gif of the strategies running.
One of my Ninjatrader suggestions would be to allow Market Replay using multiple playback accounts. Then i could use different accounts per strategy.
As vid shows below, all 6 strats are running on the chart. You can isolate the performance of them individually though using the Strategy Performance tab.
For my Market Replay, i did plan on trying to run 3 months, from October to end of Dec.
I either overestimated the Market Replay Engine of NinjaTrader, or underestimated my i7 12th Gen!?
I managed about 5 weeks. 2nd October through 8th November.
Summary of the results, shows the Variation that ignores the 200 EMA actually fares better overall.
