As you guys know, my wife and I committed to donating 10 meals for each journal as part of the June challenge. There were 21 journals, so that's 210 meals.
However, we decided to increase that to 1,000 meals -- and have bought the 1,000 cans of tuna. This is a personal purchase. I'll ask my wife for that receipt.
This was made possible by you guys, and my wife and I are happy to help do our part!
For the balance of $778.04, my wife and I noticed a huge number of people still without masks and thought it would be a good decision to help them by giving them reusable masks.
An inexpensive large box of disposable masks breaks down to $0.60 cents per mask. If we were to give each person ten masks, that's $6.00. So instead, we feel like it's better to give them a cloth washable/reusable mask. We are working out the cost for this quantity, but estimate around $3.00.
I'll update once I have that info.
Also, I want to make the announcement that as of this post, any future donations sent to Oasis will be spent as necessary for our foundation on whatever issues need solving --- I am going to stop guaranteeing future donations will be marked as part of this June event, in other words. So just know, if you donate to Oasis using an earlier link, we will spend the money on a good cause to help those most in need, but we are going to stop this June event as of now.
That means the total raised for the event was $3,176.81. Great job guys!
OK, we got the firm quote back. $1.50 per mask, which is a nice cloth mask and re-usable. Plus, they are made here in Ecuador, so it's the added benefit of helping the local economy as opposed to mass-produced by China or similar. We actually use these masks here in our family, they are nice ones.
We placed an order of 500 masks. We plan to take delivery at the end of the month, as they are made by hand. Owe it to my wife for negotiating the price down to less than half what we pay normally, for this bulk order.
Attached is the invoice for my wife and I's personal donation, 20 boxes of tuna for 1,000 meals (1,000 cans). This is the invoice they provided (lol)... anyway, I don't mind because this isn't an Oasis Americas receipt just our own personal receipt.
We ended up slightly modifying this mask order to 375 adult masks @ 1.50/ea and 150 childrens masks @ 1.25/ea, the total remains $750. The adult masks works age 13 and up more or less, so it's just for small kids which is why only 150 were ordered.
Busy week so I am a little behind on posting, but here are a couple pictures, and the invoice. I guess we were the first people to ever ask for an invoice, we are #00001

We've already started giving them away to the families that don't have any.
I am not sure why exactly, but the mask order was slightly modified as you see from the invoice. In the end, we received 355 adult masks @ 1.34 each, and 145 childrens masks @ 1.12 each (before tax). Total after tax was 714.67.
