MC 7, both discretionary and full version are in alpha only at this point. The free discretionary version is a pilot project they're trying out.
No programming, as it's targeted to discretionary traders, and no support puts it on par with NT
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I will send you the url by PM, maybe MultiCharts don't want to share too much this link.
To answer to Luke, it's possible to sim trade with MC, with IB or MBT paper account (well, I'm unable to get some data with MBT now, but I think it's only me...).
Thanks for your comments, Snoop. I think the situation needs a little clarification, so people don't get confused by the terms.
I'm not sure if I am within my boundaries to discuss the plans for this product, but I think people will benefit from knowing the road map. According to software life cycle (more info can be found here Software release life cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), software products usually undergo alpha and beta stages. Both products are alpha, which means that we are still adding features. When a product enters 'beta' stage, it doesn't receive new features, at that point we are only ironing out the bugs. So the good news is - there will be even more toys and tools to use.
MCDT will receive updates just like the regular version of MC. We are planning to have the beta of MC released by end of February 2010 (in time for the NY Traders Expo). At that point, MCDT will also be updated to include the new fixes and the features. So - don't fret! It will always be a step ahead of MC, but it's pretty stable as it is today. People will not be obliged to upgrade to the new versions of MCDT, but they may do so if they wish.
As for support, there is a dedicated forum to discuss the product. I suggest you try it, and decide yourself which one is more stable - NT or MCDT.

Thanks for your input. The link should be shared far and wide, as far as we are concerned, but thank you for considering. We want people to benefit from the free version as much as possible.

The link to the free version here.
I'm unable to make it work with MB Trading, but works fine with IB.
If it was working correctly with MB Trading, it can be a great combo, no need to use the horrible MT4 for mini lots .
