I try to meditate and keep a focused aware blissful attention to the astral plane daily.
When I was around 16 I closed my eyes on the bus ride home from school and I realized some closed eye visuals take hold of me and I got scared so I opened my eyes. It was very similar to some experiences I had right before sleep where it felt like the ceiling was vibrating back and forth from the top of the room to right in front of my eyes. I then decided to close my eyes again and try to go with it. I'll attempt to explain something that has been going on with me just about every time I've meditated since then even to this day.
When I first start meditating I usually have to do so sitting up it or doesn't work as well. Eating spinach and some other foods helps the experience too. Basically I enter 3 distinct stages and this has happened probably about a thousand times.
1. As I start to blank out thoughts that start infiltrating my thought process my mind starts to calm yet the peripherals of my closed eye vision start to radiate and glow. Sometimes they float away off to the side annoyingly off kilter. It feels a little bit chaotic and somewhat random. I don't fight where it goes but every few seconds I refocus my peripheral vision and it hovers off again. I can't put my finger on how I refocus, It's something very hard to explain and it can't be forced per se, it's mostly done by resisting outside interference rather than anything else.
2. My peripheral vision starts to take on a spherical form and all of a sudden I start to enter a trance where the sphere is larger and larger with every refocusing. Simultaneously the sphere switches to be extremely small.
It's utterly beautiful what happens at this point and very personal because I've never met anyone to have similar experiences.
the sphere morphs into other shapes like pyramids, 3d clover structures, and floats away flickering between absurdly large sizes to what feels like the size of the planet and transforms to an unfathomably small size of an atom or subatomic particle. The flickering can happen many times in even a single second. This usually all happens in black and white although sometimes I see hues of other colors intertwined with the shapes and transitions. It all happens with absolutely no noise. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced awake and is almost hard imagine being possible. I have no idea if it's healthy or harmful and the only reason I do this regularly is because it transitions into stage 3.
3. And then all of a sudden it stops and I feel like I've entered sense of deep calm and tranquility at one with everything else. There is a sense of euphoria like I can choose to be happy and resist any incoming thought. The sphere becomes fuzzy an unable to be focused and I open my eyes. Sometimes I can summon the experience to go on another couple minutes but inevitably it runs out of energy. Stage 1 can last anywhere from one minute to ten minutes and sometimes I can't get to stage 2. Stage 2 lasts for about five minutes and stage 3 can last a pretty long time until I get distracted with the outside world.
I can invoke a feeling like the third stage normally and try to most of the day. Sometimes I forget. I call it active meditation because my eyes are open as I block everything out and move or walk. I feel an energy in my back, neck, and through my arms that feels very nice. It's almost as if I can feel it radiating from my body like a fine golden static but I can't exactly see it.
I'd be very interested in getting a brain scan while this is happening but I know It doesn't happen everytime. It might take a few visits to have it done properly to the extent stage 2 is in full bloom.

Over the years I've tried neurolinguistic programming, mindful and mindless meditations, as well as self hypnosis. The results of all these techniques can have positive effects on your life for sure. The lasting benefits imo are subtle and longer lasting changes noticeable by your spouse or friends such as tolerance and patience. But then again that's what we all want. After some research, I've found quicker and more noticeable results with primordial sound meditation. BTW I have absolutely no affiliation nor receive any form of compensation from this person, but I can enthusiastically recommend him ... How To Meditate Correctly | The Spark of Karma - Primordial Sound Meditation
This is also related to health, but I figured I'd post here because it also has to do with issues I dealt with when I was younger and how to help stay healthy with meditation and positive thinking.
looking back at my life there are a lot of things that have happened to me growing up and I'm fine at the moment. I'm talking about serious things that just went away or at least dormant for the time being. There's a whole laundry list of ailments even as serious as I used to have these episodes where my eye went blind, my arm went numb, and then I got a serious headache all in the course of an hour at times in middle school. But related to this article I used to have severe episodes of sleep paralysis when I didn't get much sleep which were terrifying hallucinations where I felt powerless. Anyways the body is an amazing thing, there were many diseases I thought I had that were very serious that went away after a few weeks or a month or two. I used to even have a heart that skipped a beat every few seconds which is gone (that used to play serious games with my head because the doctors didn't know what to do and I could feel it, it was irritating and scary). I actually feel like knocking on wood reading this lol, but I believe the key is to keep happy and meditate. "You could worry about money, health, and all sorts of problems but they don't worry about you, so enjoy your life while your here because that's what you work for anyways." (that's what this jubilant Jamaican told me the other day who owns this Caribbean restaurant in an obscure town around here). Looking back, I was healthiest with the least problems when I was happy and stress free.

When I see a setup that has extraordinary promise (>50% chance of hitting target before stop) I never let thought come in, because the moment thought touches it, thought being old and laced with memory, it will pervert the simple process of trading and, therefore, will cause reactions.
Reactions arise such as demand for the pleasure of reaching target; and when the trade is half-way and when the target is not given to you by the market, there is conflict, there is fear. When the target is reached there is another demand for more and more of pleasure, and there is no ending to sorrow...
So is it not possible to trade without thought, in a perfectly natural way?
It is problem-solving, right action, while listening to the market as it changes, not memorizing rules.
It is understanding that is creative, understanding is the liberating factor. When the market is listened to, understood from moment to moment.... the market which is like a river, running, swift, volatile; in contrast when this market is met with the heavy burden of memory, naturally you are never in contact with the real market.
I read my rules twice every morning prior to trading, and do some self-hypnosis/relaxation techniques found on, of all places, YouTube. YouTube seems to have a good supply of videos for this.
I've found it keeps my emotions in check better and I'm more objective.
Adam Grimes (future futures.io (formerly BMT) presenter) is giving a free 3-week Guided Meditation Mini-Course this Friday. It's going to run from 2/27/15 - 3/20/15. It will be interesting to learn about meditation from someone whose main job is in the markets.
Congratulations you have achieved total awareness - a very special and sacred place.
You are not alone this is a very powerful technique. I sent you a suggestion you can try to open new doors.
