On a side note, I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop tonight. I like the new Unity interface. But it is definitely buggy and with only a month before release, that is quite scary. It's crashed on me about five times in two hours, whereas I never had any problems with prior alpha or betas.
It's actually a pretty unique interface right now. I like it better than the prior desktop, either KDE or Gnome. If I could get my four monitors working properly I'd switch to Ubuntu 11.04 once it is stable, I think that 11.04 is going to be a LTS release to boot.

Well, there is obviously something not good between Sierra Charts and Rithmic.
I waited patiently for the new API from Rithmic, and I guess they released it. But according to SC, the new API will not support Windows XP users (even though XP is still the dominant version) and even though SC supposedly asked Rithmic to modify the new API to support XP, Rithmic refuses to do so....thus SC will not implement the new API. I have no idea if any of the above is what is actually going on or not....it is just the answer I received on the SC support board.
Bottom line, I still can not use SC on Linux unless I switch to a Trading Technologies broker....but I don't want to do that. For better or worse, I am stuck on Windows....running my anti virus stuff and all....
My focus is on:
1. Avoid the opening chop.
2. Honor stops
3. Ensure reward > risk on all trades
You might try the Rithmic forums directly to see what their side of the story is. Perhaps SC would be willing to implement it without removing the old one? Just add a second connection, for the "New Rithmic API". But at some time people have to move on past XP...

I emailed Matt at Optimus about this issue a couple of weeks back but have not heard back yet. I searched for a Rithmic forum but did not find one, so I sent an email to their contact email, asking them to forward it to the right technical folks...they may not respond to just a customer instead of a introducing broker, but at least I am trying. Thanks for the suggestion....
On the Sierra Chart forum, someone stated that Windows XP is still used by like 54% of Windows users...guess folks just don't trust Microsoft releases until they have proved reliable, and I also read somewhere Windows 8 will be out probably next summer and it will be a major shift for Microsoft.....why buy Windows 7 if 8 will be out that soon.....
Just thoughts
