At the moment I am trying to convert the journal tab into a table that grows with your data, so the journal will not be unnecessarily large. But there are a lot of pitfalls working with tables on protected sheets....we'll see how it goes...
If I succeed with this Idea, we would be rather flexible of what we do with this data....lots of possibilities.
Ok, @petrmac will probably kill me, but I am playing with a version of the journal where the journal tab hosts a table that expands with the data entered...
Took me all day to convert that and then fix all the things that got broken by this conversion....and now I've got a headache....
it is working quite OK but there are still a few issues: I am trying to tie the conditional formatting to the table and I want to hide ( at least most of) the auto filter buttons....
With a bit of luck I will post an alpha release tomorrow....
I am just starting out with the time period stats...so if you have any more ideas or scetches, now is the time...
Here is the first Alpha build. Everything on journal tab is done in a table now...
How it works:
Use the migration tool to import your old journal.
Inserting new rows is done automatically: as soon as you reach the column "comments" in the last row and then hit tab, a new row is inserted.my own little version of the invisible had....
No pics this time, as everything looks nearly identical, but nothing could be further from the truth...
As soon as this works reasonably well, we can move on and design the stats tab...
FYI
I was playing around with version 3 and left it up on my computer for several hours and when I came back I was gettig "subscript of range" error. I had to close it out and open it back up to get rid of it. If it happens with 3.2 I will get a screenshot.
I was kind of distracted by my regular work:-D so I found the time to read the forum just today...
why would I want to kill you??? Did you change the layout of the journal a lot?
Well, I didn't change the columns, just added a few at the end, but I guess that shouldn't be an issue.
The tricky part is that it is a table now. This means that before entering data, the table would have to be resized in order to take all the data....Basically the data has to be pasted inside the table, otherwise the data is below the table and will be useless there...
