Despite scientists' insistence that mutated strains of the original SARS-CoV-2 virus had little significance, so-called "variants" discovered in the UK and South Africa have been found to be more infectious than the original. And while vaccine makers insist that their jabs will be just as effective against these hyper-infectious strains, the reality is there isn't much data to comfortably back up these assertions.
James T. Mulder wrote Saturday at syracuse.com that until December 29 there had been no coronavirus deaths at The Commons.
Over a period of less than two weeks since December 29, Mulder relates that 24 coronavirus-infected residents at the 300-bed nursing home have died.
There had been no nursing home Covid-19 deaths in Cayuga County until the first three deaths at the Commons were reported Dec. 29. The three other nursing homes in Cayuga have not reported any Covid-19 deaths.
Auburn, N.Y. – A Covid-19 outbreak at a Cayuga County nursing home that began two weeks ago has infected 137 residents, 24 of whom have died.
The state Health Department inspected the nursing home’s infection control practices Wednesday and found no deficiencies.
As we all know, COVID-19 has been a huge issue for all of us. Our way of life has drastically changed, putting unnecessary stress on us.
If anyone is interested and if the moderator allows me, I have information about a treatment based on policlonal antibodies, interferons and glycopeptides. The treatment is safe to use, it boosts inmune response and it may be used as “cure” as well as a profilaxis. There are studies all over the world showing the potential use of these products as antivirals agents targeting COVID-19.
As public health experts around the world issue warnings about new mutant strains of SARS-CoV-2, it appears a new variant has been isolated in Ohio, likely originating from somewhere in the Midwest.
One of these variants, dubbed the "Columbus strain," has three gene mutations that haven't previously been seen in other SARS-CoV-2 strains - the virus that causes COVID-19, according to a statement from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. These mutations occur in the so-called spike protein of the virus, which enables the virus to bind to human cells more quickly.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, mainstream epidemiology and public health entities doubted – or even rejected – the efficacy of lockdowns and mass quarantines because they were considered ineffective. This all changed in March 2020, when sentiment flipped in support of lockdown measures. Still, there is a vast body of evidence explaining their original stance and why these mandates do not work.
Fauci said that shutting down the country does not work. (January 24, 2020)
"historically when you shut things down it doesn’t have a major effect.”
study in the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology regarding the 1918 influenza pandemic in Canada:
“quarantine measures limiting intercommunity travel ... simulation results suggest that such a situation may actually make things worse, especially in the absence of strong efforts to keep infectious individuals isolated from the rest of the population.”
American Journal of Epidemiology
should mass quarantine be used it would “inflict significant social, psychological, and economic costs without resulting in the detection of many infected individuals.”
Johns Hopkins scholars say quarantines don’t work but are pursued for political reasons. (September 2019)
"implementation of some NPIs, such as travel restrictions and quarantine, might be pursued for social or political purposes by political leaders, rather than pursued because of public health evidence.”
A massive Danish study on mask usage found no statistically significant difference in coronavirus infection rates between mask-wearers and non-mask-wearers. In fact, according to the data, mask usage may actually increase the likelihood of infection. https://t.co/ijUy8hfNTY pic.twitter.com/gYDtA8ac0p
And the same goes for lockdowns, as the balance between the high cost and time-limited efficacy are still not well understood.
Doctors Warn Side Effects From COVID-19 Vaccine "Won't Be A Walk In The Park"
Fevers, sweats, migraines and muscle aches that last for days - these are just some of the symptoms reported by various 'Phase 3' trial participants who volunteered for the vaccine trials run by Pfizer, Moderna and others
With reports this morning of another otherwise-healthy patient dying suddenly after receiving her first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, many skeptics in both Europe and the US still have serious reservations about the jabs
First, Gundlach pointed to the ~95% effective number: "I'm just not buying it," Gundlach said, arguing that the sample size of infected patients (that is, trial participants who actually contracted the virus) is too small to be reliable.
"I would take this news more credibly if they came up with a vaccine and they said it worked, like, 53% of the time. There's something about that 94.5% that just looks fishy to me. You go from zero to 94.5...um...I got a feeling that it's a very small sample, I got a feeling that it's relative to one strain."
these things mutate like crazy. That's the problem with vaccines on coronaviruses, is they mutate like crazy. We can't get a durable vaccine on the regular influenza, we have failure rates of over 50% in some years."
"Apparently, the ones they've tested with these high rates, apparently it's super unpleasant to take the vaccine. You have to take it twice, it's painful...you have to deal with really painful side effects...this is what I'm hearing from people who know more about this than I do."
it hurts like hell...and you might be sick for 3 days."
