I missed the new Spider-Man due to spiderman fatigue and tired of remakes/reimaginings after only a few years. I was never a big fan of the Raimi movies, although I loved a few of the older comics. Maybe will catch it rental later.
Looking forward to TDKR too. And at the end of the year, The Hobbit. Rottentomtoes.com critic consensus still looks good for TDKR, > 85% (hope it doesn't drop any further, some of these bad review critics are just reviewing based on TDK and Heath Ledger; Christian Bale is also always excellent imo. Looking forward to seeing Tom Hardy as Bane too. Maybe he's a steroid-amped version of his Shinzon role, the bald romulan Picard clone in Star Trek: Nemesis Looking forward to be floored by another monstrous Batman foe. )
"Prometheus" was a bitter disappointment for me. I appreciated the great visuals. But the overall script was very lacking. Why they used hack writers, Spaithis and Lindelof is beyond me.
A good movie I watched last night on VOD was "Goon" with Sean William Scott. It's a pretty goofy hockey movie, but it's a lot of fun, especially for guys and people with a penchant for profanity.
The synopsis is: "Labeled an outcast by his brainy family, a bouncer overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way."
Anyway, it was a lot better than I expected, although there is a lot of footage of people getting into fights on the hockey rink. And yes, it's lighthearted.
Definitely recommend it if you want to watch something silly yet engaging.
