I have researched the cholesterol issue extensively, I will provide links later on today. You can watch the movie Fat head on Youtube or Netflix, specially the second part of it, that explains a lot...
Since the cholesterol issue is rather complicated and lots of misconceptions exist even among doctors, I encourage everybody concerned to do your own research and use common sense. I will provide here a few good links and a quick summary... Or you can just search for lipid hypothesis...
1. Half the people who get heart attacks do NOT have elevated cholesterol levels.
2. Half the people with elevated cholesterol do NOT suffer from Coronary Heart Disease.
3. Statins mostly help people with an existing heart condition.
4. For women over 55 years old there is absolutely no benefits of taking statins.
5. The preventive nature of statins are most likely from their anti-inflammatory effect not from cholesterol lowering.
6. There is a direct link between CVD and high tryglicerid levels, specially if high VLDL is also present.
7. You can lower both cholesterol and tryg by using natural products, instead of statins. Niacin and fish oil are such.
8. Dietary cholesterol has almost no effect on your blood serum cholesterol. Most of your cholesterol is made in your liver.
9. If you have an existing heart condition and you have to take statins, take it with CoQ-10 enzime. It is important for muscle performance (specially heart muscle) and statins deprive the body from it.
10. The real culprit in atherosclerotic plaque buildup is generalized inflammation. This causes low density lipoproteins to be deposited on blood vessel walls where they form plaques.
One good way to find useful (and healthy products) is to read user reviews at Amazon. If you read the feedback on Niacin and CoQ-10, you can find other useful tips.
One word on Niacin: There are 3 types, normal, extended release and non-flushing. Niacon causes flushing (warm sensation) in some people. To avoid this, people need to build up their dosage slowly. The problem with non-flushing Niacin that it doesn't work at all, so forget about it. The extended release puts too much pressure on the liver, so caution is needed.

For those of you who are attempting to deal with your chronic diet and activity related health problems with prescription drugs, be aware that metabolic syndrome is not caused by a dietary deficiency of prescription drugs. The drugs used to treat it will end up killing you.
How to control it? Limit carbohydrate intake and glycemic load. Keep blood sugar levels as low as possible. Any fasting blood levels above 85 are a cause for concern. Consider adapting Intermittent Fasting strategies. Consider Paleo lifestyle. Be aware of the downsides of consumption of animal based foods. Avoid food containing Roundup® residues, including all GMO crap. Avoid destructive low intensity "aerobic" exercise and do interval training instead.

(Reuters Health) - There is no end in sight for the increasing rate of metabolic syndrome among Americans, with the prevalence growing among young adults as well, a new study finds.
Metabolic syndrome refers to a collection of risk factors for type 2 diabetes and heart disease that includes abdominal obesity (belly fat), high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, low HDL ("good") cholesterol, and high triglycerides (another type of blood fat).
The five conditions described below are metabolic risk factors. You can have any one of these risk factors by itself, but they tend to occur together. You must have at least three metabolic risk factors to be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.
A large waistline. This also is called abdominal obesity or "having an apple shape." Excess fat in the stomach area is a greater risk factor for heart disease than excess fat in other parts of the body, such as on the hips.
A high triglyceride level (or you're on medicine to treat high triglycerides). Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood.
A low HDL cholesterol level (or you're on medicine to treat low HDL cholesterol). HDL sometimes is called "good" cholesterol. This is because it helps remove cholesterol from your arteries. A low HDL cholesterol level raises your risk for heart disease.
High blood pressure (or you're on medicine to treat high blood pressure). Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage your heart and lead to plaque buildup.
High fasting blood sugar (or you're on medicine to treat high blood sugar). Mildly high blood sugar may be an early sign of diabetes.

I read a couple of years back that if your work requires sitting for extended periods of time each day you shorten your lifespan by up to 10 years - even if you exercise.
Then last week that if your work requires sitting for extended periods of time each day you increase your chance of getting diabeties - even if you exercise. This clipping recommended getting up occasionally - for example when on the phone.
I know some people who have computer desk that rise so you can work standing.
I teller in the bank said she had back problems when she use to sit but now that she stands she is OK.

They have those walking treadmill desks, or youtube videos to show how you can makeshift one of your own.
I don't know. Maybe I do have "sarcopenia". My back always aches. I try to do stretches.
Anyone every tried one of those posts or whatever that one can hang upside down on? A co-worker had told me
they were available at "Big 5 sporting goods". And those people who practice head stands with the wall...
They are called inversion tables and you can buy a really nice, sturdy one from Amazon for under $130. It is worth a try. I have one and it is pretty comfortable. You don't need to be completely upside down, a nice 30 degrees decline does the job.
I don't use it as frequently as I should, but it is very relaxing and I always get sleepy on it probably due to more blood going to my head. One thing to look for is the leg holding, because it can get uncomfortable after a while (specially for heavy people), so read the reviews first before buying one.
But it is good for decompressing your spine, some chiropractors have a 70K machine that does the same thing and they charge good money for each session....
Edit: I have just realized you were talking about posts, not tables. I guess the disadvantage of those that you always put all your weight on your legs and you can't change the decline. By the way if your gym has a rowing machine with an adjustable incline, you can try and lie on it upside down and test the feeling.
I got a great deal on a floor model that was used probably less than 20 times from a small store front, and the manufacturer also put a brand new back mechanism on it and gave me an extended warranty, for less than half the price the chair normally goes for.
It is on a truck to be delivered this week, so I can't speak from experience yet. But I can tell you I've not been this excited to take delivery on something in a long time. It has inversion therapy, which I know from prior experience is going to be a huge relief for me. I look forward to this chair.
