2 40s would yield about the same real estate as 7 1920x1200 monitors.. I am thinking of ditching my 5 in favor of 1 of these and having still 70% of current space in a much neater package. Could sell my 5 and easily finance the cost of it.
From the reading I did, the main deterrent would be the glare which seems to be pretty high... ?
Glare is a concern on the Phillips and Seiki, not sure on Samsung but probably as these are optimized for gaming not desktop use.
I still want two of the 40" to replace my three 30's 2560x1600. Still not sure about having a bezel dead center field of view though. I want someone else to go first and report back, photos, etc, especially considering the extreme cost for me to import
What I would probably do is set my desktop to where the left monitor is my main and the second wraps to the right. That way the bezel is off to the right and not in the middle.
I have use one Philips 40" monitor for some time. In the beginning it was big. Now it have shrink to the right size when sitting in front of monitor. 2 40" is for my part still very big. For charts it's very nice for the big picture. If there is a need for big charts then 40" is the right size. Bigger than 40" starts to be a problem because the edges is too far away.
One bezel would be like a dream -- I have 5 24" in portrait right now, so I have 4 big fat bezels in the field of view! Anyone with multiple monitors has this problem now though, right? ABT has the 40" JU6700 in stock for $950. As I look on eBay, not sure I can sell my Dell U2412's for more than $200 used. Samsung 40" Curved UHD 4K LED Smart HDTV -UN40JU6700 FXZA
@josh your video card looks fine. That important part is DisplayPort 1.2 spec so you can do 3840x2160 @ 60hz @ 4:4:4, you don't want to be forced to 30hz.
So I would need a new GPU that has HDMI 2.0 that runs HDMI at 60hz like a gforce 960.
On that thread I also read about an $850 price tag, but I can only find it online available to ship from ABT, and it's $950. If I could find it at $850, that would be great but can't find it.
