The temperature on earth surface is cooling down. It's the temperature in the atmosphere that is warming up. (above our heads that is) and the reason is the sun, not earth activity or pollution.
It's just a lie to raise taxes. Period.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I sure hope you're right about things getting warmer. A longer growing season in the Northeast and using less
oil and natural gas to heat our homes in the winter would really be nice. (By the way, the growing season
has not changed. Still on the short side in western Massachusetts.)
Way back, a number of week ago, I posted as to how this "global warming/climate change" BS was just
like the propaganda about the population explosion that came around the late 60's. Sure the earth's population
was growing, and looking back to the late 60's now we know exactly how much. But widespread lack of food
and the essentials of life on a global scale...just a fairly tale.
I assume, that every
big environmental organization in the U.S. has a huge financial and credibility interest in pushing global
warming/climate change. There really does not need to be any truth involved. Way too late for that.
And guess what, they always say that whatever happens in this matter, it will be bad. They have to do so.
First it was "global warming" meaning the Earth is getting warmer.
Now it's "climate change" meaning the Earth is getting warmer here, colder there, wetter here, drier there, ETC.
With "climate change" everything is covered. Any odd weather. It's a win-win with this phrasing.
By the way, the winter here in the North central and North eastern states, is way colder and way snowyer
than anything that could be considered to be in a normal range for this area.
The earth's climate is a complex system. Its exact evolution is difficult to predict, as the interrelationships are non-linear. Non-linear systems show temporary equilibriums that are inherently instable.
By increasing the concentration of of carbon dioxide and other industrial gases in the atmosphere to levels not seen during the last 400,000 years, we will probably in one way or an another put an end to the prior equilibrium.
The increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide is not the only problem. Sweet water depletion and pollution of both ground water reserves and oceans are well advanced. About a third of all species is threatened with extinction (source IUCN). We have just managed within a few years to destroy a large part of our natural heritage.
I am a bit tired of the arrogance and ignorance of those who pretend that nothing has happened.
It is not a question of millidegrees here and there, it is a question of a lack of responsibility. The current economic progress is partly based on predatory behavior. If I was to describe this in terms of physics, it is a one-way process that simply increases entropy and destroys diversity. Burning fossil fuels which contain solar energy from hundreds of millions years in a few centuries just to move large and useless cars around, will not be seen as an achievement by the future generations.
Go and tell everybody some tales and explain them why they do not need to care. Also insist that there is no carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and that the American Way of Life can be maintained by continuing to exploit and destroy the natural resources of our planet.
Or perhaps it is a more accurate description given the increasing understanding of the issue.
If people want to beleive climate change is all a big conspiracy I don't really care. However the climate scientists I know are yet to be informed of their role in the conspiracy...
Fine, for the moment let's say climate change exists on earth. Where?
How about this from a previous post on this thread:
No hurricanes have made landfall in the United States for two straight years; the first time since 2000-01.
No major hurricanes have struck the U.S. since 2005, or for five straight years (2006-2010), the first time that has happened since 1910-1914.
Maybe this is evidence of climate change. Sounds good to me. Fewer deaths and less property damage.
If this is climate change it is a good thing. But you won't hear the big environmental organizations saying that
climate change is going to be great for millions (or billions) of people on earth. It goes against their agenda.

The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) refers to the time of maximum extent of the ice sheets during the last glacial period, between 26,500 and 19,000–20,000 years ago.[1] It was followed by the Late Glacial Maximum.
At this time, ice sheets covered the whole of Iceland and all but the southern extremity of the British Isles... Northern Europe was largely covered... In North America, the ice covered essentially all of Canada and extended roughly to the Missouri and Ohio Rivers, and eastward to New York City.
Hmmm, wouldn't it be nice if there was a climate change and the glaciers melted so people could live
in (what is now) the northern states of the U.S. Hey, the climate changed! In a good way! It got warmer!
The Late Glacial Maximum (ca. 13,000-10,000 years ago) is defined primarily by climates in the northern hemisphere warming substantially, causing a process of accelerated deglaciation following the Last Glacial Maximum (ca. 25,000-13,000 years ago).[1] It is at this time that human populations, previously forced into refuge areas as a result of Last Glacial Maximum climatic conditions, gradually begin to repopulate the northern hemisphere's Eurasian landmass and eventually populate North America via Beringia for the first time.
Two attachments showing glacial ice on earth in the past and present.

The Earth's climate was in a cool period from A.D. 1400 to about A.D. 1860, dubbed the "Little Ice Age." This period was characterized by harsh winters, shorter growing seasons, and a drier climate. The decline in global temperatures was a modest 1/2° C, but the effects of this global cooling cycle were more pronounced in the higher latitudes. The Little Ice Age has been blamed for a host of human suffering including crop failures like the "Irish Potato Famine."
Today we enjoy global temperatures which have warmed back to levels of the so called "Medieval Warm Period," which existed from approximately A.D. 1000 to A.D. 1350.
Hi stephenszpak I do not really wish to get further involved in this discussion. I am not a climate scientist, and my knowledge on the subject is limited.
I suggest you watch the series of videos I posted earlier. There is 11 videos I think, each around 10 mins. I think they are worthwhile.
Incidentally, at present Sydney is in the midst of a heat wave, and last night it broke the record for the hottest night recorded. Also we have just recorded for the first time ever 7 days in a row with 30+ C degrees. Sydney's record heatwave enters 7th day
Thankfully we have plenty of beaches here.
Is this alone evidence for warming? No, as this is just a small sample of a hugely complex non-linear system. Just as a severe winter storm would not be evidence for cooling.
Historically, the earth's temperature has fluctuated. These up and down global temperature
variations began long long before the internal combustion engine was invented.
Historically, humanity as a whole, has been negatively affected more when temperatures went
down, than when they went up.
I know the debate in this old thread has been about global warming - however I think this misses the point somewhat - we either respect our home ( of animals, plants and people ) or we don't. I thought this new documentary trailer might inspire some new dialogue. There is a pattern of abuse on this planet that is not long term sustainable. The planet of course will survive - the rest of us- maybe not so much.
