My read on NT8 is that it is going to be more of a development technology update. Perhaps some relatively minor features and enhancements. Hopefully a lot of bug fixes. I just hope they don't break anything major.
Should probably be called NT7.5 since I do not see any revolutionary new features. Hoping to be proved wrong.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Yea -- that definitely better not be true.. :O :O Or it would suck BIG TIME.
THEY BETTER - AT LEAST INCLUDE -- THE VARIABLE X-AXIS
That would allow all the other programs to "Go crazy" with it and make a ton of awesome things for Ninja.
BUT TO BE HONEST - when I saw him get on the freakin webinar and start talking about "Skins" and that B.S. -- I was pretty disappointed and pissed. Nobody gives a Flying You know What -- about Skins...
When the F do you see TradeStation, Trade Navigator, or Sierra talking about that B.S.... Nobody cares about that at all. And to think that he wasted TIME AND MONEY on that bullshit - makes me wonder - what else he has been wasting time on - you know?
But again - all we ask for is for features - that would allow programmers to do awesome things in Ninja Trader with.
A Variable X-Axis is one of them...
The Sizable DOM - that should be good for alot of programmers to play around with... for people that like doms
But definitely not Skins -- nobody cars about that.
I have also seen people ask for things that are WAAAAYYY TOO EXOTIC -- That may just distract from critical things like the above.
Nobody needs "Equity line as a usable data series" That is totally unnecessary.
Maybe also connectivity with other FOREX brokers - like OANDA and L-Max.
It already has FXCM - but needs these other 2 - Oanda especially.
I ALSO THINK that NINJA TRADER SHOULD START CHARGING A SMALL FEE EVEN FOR THE "FREE" USERS.
Drop the Free use Business Model and start charging at least like $20 bucks a month from everyone that is using it.
And if they pay for 3 months at a time - then $15 bucks /month .
Then take that money and expand your programmer army ! And get them to work on the OANDA and L-Max connectivity - while everyone else is working on the other things.
You should watch all the NT8 webinars and read all the associated webinar threads here. NT8 breaks all existing NT7 NinjaScript, so calling it NT 7.5 would make no sense.
NT needs a way to import a file of execution data.
The current method of manually adding one execution at a time is too cumbersome. The currently provided method of editing an execution is to remove and then add and is again too cumbersome. If uploading a file of execution data is not practical then instructions should be provided as to a method to modify the data base outside of NT.
I was studying systems on collective2 and wondering what they were doing. Being able to import the trade data into NT and seeing it on a chart would be helpful to study the various systems.
Users and developers have spent the last 30 years defeating Moore's Law with bad software and poor choices. I see no reason for this to change with either 100 cores and active threads or TeraHertz clocks. The problem is nearly always bad software, usually badly coded or unrealistic indicators or data source frequencies, or bad choices of what to look at or how to look at it. NT7 is not the problem, I can run 8 workspaces and 140 charts with 100 indicators for 2% of an i7, and support other-world systems. Only my head explodes, so I've stopped doing it, the system just laughs.
I want the multi-core support too, for now I just write my own threads, it's mainly the graphics library that blocks it for NT, but it won't solve any problems, just make things sweeter.
For now I suggest you think carefully about the value of each instrument/time series and indicator that you use, and evaluate what they really give you towards each trade that you execute.
