When you close the door of your mind to negative thoughts, the door of opportunity opens to you.
It is the nature of opportunity that it refuses to attach itself to negative thinkers.
Negative minds cannot conceive exciting new business opportunities, invent innovative new products, solve difficult problems, or create beautiful music or works of art.
All of these activities require a positive belief in yourself and your abilities. When you approach every challenge with a Positive Mental Attitude, you will always discover opportunities that others have overlooked.
Relish your achievements and recall them when the going gets tough. Take comfort in the knowledge that you have succeeded in the past and you can do it again.
I think I was in my teens when I found some of my dads old books and I read "think and grow rich". Not to exactly date myself, but that would be over 35 yrs ago :-O
Anyway as my trading coach often says as well as many other successful traders, its 90% head stuff, 5% money management and 5% trading system. Not sure exactly about the numbers but I can say I completely believe that it is a large majority head stuff or Phycology (spelling ?).
Hear are some of my inputs not in any particular order :
- Some habits are extremely important and impact you more rub off more than others. Example eating well or exercising. If you eat well, and exercise, your mind is clear, you feel less stressed, you sleep better, you are more energized and upbeat etc etc.
- Morning or pre trading routine. Just like Robin Sharma or others write and talk about, a morning routing is extremely important to start off you day current. Likewise, a pre trading routing such as positive affirmations, visualization etc is key to get in the right mindset. I have stuff pinned to my monitors, as well as post it notes on my bathroom mirror to remind me of this.
- NLP. I haven't seen much in this thread on this although I may have missed it. NLP has tools such as swish pattern where you can "break" negative habits, in other words you can disconnect negative emotions or actions connected to previous things. With NLP, you can replace the negative emotion with a positive one.
- Goals & visualization. I've always been a big supporter of this. Be careful though. Friends and even family may try to steal your dream. Most people may think this is hockey or hoopla and may discourage you. Like firewalkers in Tony Robbins seminars. Of course a few people may burn their feet a little .. so what ? I personally have a list and I have a presentation made up with all kinds of dream pics. YOU NEED A COMPELLING FUTURE.
- Performance or activity goal. At first it might help to have activity goals (read 15 min a day, daily push-ups, 10 min of meditation, visualization etc.) And performance goals: How many times you follow your rules, ec..
instead of visualizing what you want, try to visualize what life will be like if you don't do the things you need to do( follow plan,make money ect ect) I find this much more powerful
