As an afterthought, I'll add some comments to the pic I published in jest.

I see that picture as bittersweet, in that it is exactly what happens whenever a client asks for an IT project delivery. Usually, the more people involved, the more fragmented the communication process, the murkier the final results. So that diagram is almost as reverred as a bible in IT corporations.

Unfortunately this is true not only of IT projects. Communication is and remains one of the biggest barriers between people. I started advocating for this since I was 15-16 year old and I still struggle to this day whenever I realize I am not making myself as clear as I would like.

To complicate matters , each of us tends to have a preferred 'modality', i.e. some prefer visual communication, other prefer figures, others bullet points, etc., so it is not easy to always hit the target between what you had in mind and what the intended audience receives.

I'm a programmer AND have hired other programmers from Upwork when I needed to build up a team for large projects. Here's what's critical, 1) have someone with tech skills assist with hiring: tech people can instantly tell if the other tech person is good or not and 2) people skills are critical, good continuous communication from both sides is 90% of what will make the project succeed. Trust me.
