in the vertical layout, I find the design of things really helps readability. I played in Paint with paddings and couldn't make it better, so congrats - its perfect.
My observations:
The user icon seems a bit large. The eye picks up on it near-subconsciously, so even a smaller pic would carry the identity of author well. So I am wondering whether displaying the user icon next to the user nick would make things clearer. I understand this would put pressure on max nick lenght. See attached image.
The "following users say thank you ... " sentence repeats on each post that is thanked for. It could be shortened "Thanks to bob" and the nicks could follow without a newline - on most posts, the eliminated newline would save some space between posts, improving reading flow.
In the light theme, the white font for username and "Thanks" is awesome, the post itself just stands out. Would it be possible to experiement with something similar in the dark theme, i.e. make this font darker? Maybe the same could go for the user stats - on one hand they look nice and add to "sophistication of posts". On the other hand, if I explicitly want to see the number of posts/thanks for the given user, I can look it up on his user page. If I dont care at all about this, then this information is just distracting my eye.
Would you have a chance to create a preview of the themes on a monitor that is more wide than tall?
Thank you big Mike for the new remarkable developments espicially the name it opens doors to various markets and various trading products not only futures.
I'm sure in the upcoming years I will see major trading products community
FUTURES-options-cfd
And major markets community
Forex-stocks-indices-commodities-energy-bonds-cryptocurrencies
Also major markets platforms community
Imadd to the existing ones the other ones like metatrader and others.
But the name itself is the first step to open the doors to all markets and traders.
Congratulations and best wishes for your great and professional forum.
This is trying out a different bg color. I am going to try flipping the bg color of the quote and main post body, so it's darker overall but quotes are slightly less dark.
Thoughts please. This change was yesterday, I will continue to incorporate feedback.
I personally like the first dark theme, with the darker bg colors, more. Its more ... "dark" More contrast between bg and font = better readability.
I remember the feeling when in my previous job users asked me to incorporate features that I found stupid and/or bringing marginal benefit to them vs huge load of work on my side. I have no idea at all of how much work this would entail, so Im just going to say it out loud in case its somehow miraculously simple - all design choices could be left to users, if users had the choice to define their own colors (something like a skin). This option could be "too high level of detail" for some users, so they could choose the predefined light/dark themes, while those with more sensitive eyes could tweak a color here or there.
