1. simple question
I have the 2 original trades in Journal 4.1 which I modified to my 1st 2 trades
How to I add a trade 3, cell B4 is read only, trying to right click on row 3 but insert is not available,
2. I thought that my inability to insert a trade 3 had something to do with me clicking 'delete empty rows' in column D, but apparently not. not sure what that is there for
I have couple of next suggestions for the journal improvement. Consider the following ones:
1. add two more chart types to the Overview tab - the gross tick gain/loss per day and net tick gain/loss per day. The idea behind that is that one should concentrate on how well he trades, not how much money is made. 20 ticks on M6E might look like nothing compared to 20 ticks in 6E of FDAX but it would help to visualize the consistency. The commissions on the m6e have much higher impact on the results than on some more leveraged instrument.
2. In the time period statistics the deltas from the the last period might be an interesting item. For the weeks as well for the months.
Sorry to jump in here but I just HAD to express my most sincere gratitude to everyone (especially Big Mike and vvhg and all the other testers) for putting this beautiful trading Journal together. I spent the whole morning reading through much of the thread (I started jumping ahead after the 20th page or so) and it's quite evident how much effort went into this.
I noticed about 500 posts back, vvhg said he wasn't really an expert at Excel....well, I bet you are now!
Thanks again for all the hard work--you can bet I will put this journal to good use!
First off thanks for creating this amazing spreadsheet and incredibly useful forum. I honestly didn't think it was possible to find a civil and helpful trading forum.
As a someone who trades options and stocks, I'd like to suggest that the commission field needs to be handled differently. Typically options are priced at a base rate plus a per options cost. Same thing for stocks in my Thinkorswim account.
The way I do it in my spreadsheet is to add a "commission" cost per trade and enter it manually with each trade.
