It is not that I have anything against being one of the Elite members but I doubt that since I am a 100% long term equity trader that there is much available for me to do and read in the elite section. My type of trading is very much in the minority on this site.
I enjoy journalling here and participating in all the non-elite forums on this site. If you could demonstrate how much more I would learn and benefit on the other side of the fence so-to-speak given that you have a pretty good idea of my approach to trading then I will certainly consider it...but I don't day trade, I don't do options commodities or futures and I don't have any intention of doing so. {shrug}
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
This is my last post as there are plenty of existing "Elite" threads that talk about why/why not. But quite simply, Elite Membership is a way to support the community that you belong to. I would love to see more equity trading and more swing trading on the site. Won't happen until more start posting it. If you like the site, why not support it and be the trend setter?
True and I may move in that direction....however, the traders that I really enjoy talking to are the newbie. Not to say that the elite don't talk to me. I have made a few friends there but I am not going to influence them to my style of TA. But I believe that I can help the newbie in focusing on what they are doing.
I cannot reach those people by posting in the elite section and those in the elite section that are interested in my approach can easily follow me where I am.
With the exception of a few, @ratfink of special note, I feel tolerated at best..
while i enjoyed Underexposed 's nostalgic trip down technical analysis memory lane, i would begin my approach to trading bib with a look at the following: time frames are variable
would also learn the difference between a range day and trend …
It was early in my participation here...but that quote felt pretty patronizing to me.
So for now...I am happy where I am...no disrespect to you or this forum intended...in reality, of the many I have participated on in the last 8-10 years...this is the best I have found.
I think you would find many people in the elite section who would be receptive to your point of view and style of TA, as well as your longer-term orientation.
I traded stocks and ETFs for a long time; I've gone into futures because I like it (can't trade it worth a damn yet, but working on it ), but I don't have any belief that stock and swing trading is not a good thing to do, nor that "technical analysis memory lane" ( ) is a description of what you do analytically. Also, putting people down is quite rare on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT), and most people in the elite section are particularly scrupulous in not being impolite or opinionated.
As far as helping newbies, you will find an amazing number of them in the elite section. They are not "elite" as traders, they are simply there to try to find something that will work for them. And, as a rule, they are lost and in need of someone to give them something to grab hold of, besides whiz-bang fancy indicators and the stuff that vendors peddle (no peddling allowed here.)
So I just wanted you to know that the elite section is not so "elite" in an exclusive sense (most of the very active posters are there), nor hostile to your point of view, nor is it a place where you would not find kindred spirits.
Your choice about what you will do, of course.
Bob.
Edit: PS, the type of TA you do works perfectly well on short-term charts and intra-day trading too, and there are people here who are aware of that, as well as people who aren't, but would like it if they saw it. Just another thought....
Edit 2: I do a somewhat modified and personal variation of price action trading, not at all the classic TA, which I think is true of many, but I enjoy it and read the threads that use it; sometimes learn something, too. Different strokes for different folks....
@Big Mike Thanks again for such a great contest. I truly am enjoying the discussions that I see about journaling and seeing the journals that everyone has posted links to.
It would be really cool if we could Double Like some of the journals that really stand out. ;-)
Well I guess we can do that by commenting inside each entrants journal.
Yes, feel free to Thank the posts within the journal itself and asks questions or make comments in that thread to give additional support to the posters.
Great journals all.
Thought you may like an easier way to view them as going through the thread you can sometimes miss someone.
By the way if I apologize in advance if I missed anyone.
The attached file can be unzipped into a folder and should have everyone's link to their journal for the contest. Yes @alejo I put both of your journals in there. ;-) Got a bit tired later on and only put a single link in for the people that like me put two entry points to the same journal.
Hopefully this will helps.
Also if I goofed on any listings private message me and I will update the zip file. Thanks again.
@Big Mike for such a great place and site that teaches me new things each day.
Wow I didn't know that when you change your signature it changes it for all of your past posts too. Good thing to remember. Also was trying to be stealth and copy plus maybe improve on something I was going to copy from igGod.
@iqgod really great idea to put the perma link to your journaling contest entry in your journal. Thanks and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I intend to totally copy that; however I'm not using the permalink to your journal entry... lol Thanks
What I was going to share but I was unable to figure it out is a way to put the same message into our signature block. I guess we are blocked from putting a hyperlink in our signature. If someone can figure it out please share.
Here's the best I could come up with.
Looks like I'll have to use individual entries in my actual journal posts like igGod did. Guess I like to automate things a bit and then have something to add for all.
Thanks all. Great journals.
Learning a lot this October.
Also @iqgod... Sorry been getting your user name wrong, won't again.
Yes, a signature is global for all posts. But URL's don't work in signatures, this was actually something we did to prevent spam a long time ago. I ended up disabling signatures all together recently for non-Elite members, so now I could go back and enable URL's in signatures for Elite Members probably. I'll look into it.
