There was a cook a number of years ago that was also a body builder. He had a show on the Health
network I think. He always made low fat dishes. Often he would juice some vegetable and then take
that juice and cook some low fat form of meat in the juice, instead of cooking the meat in oil or butter.
Stuff like that. I couldn't find his name on-line though. Did stuff in the 90's. If anyone knows they can
post. I think your gal might do this, as she doesn't mind cooking. Maybe he made some videos that are
still for sale????
It is indeed possible to get too much quick sugar. It will cause hypoglycemia. The quick sugar causes your
blood sugar level to rise then crash. This will often cause the brain to work improperly. Jack Lalanne mentions
this in the video to some extent. Hypoglycemia has many effects. Like, feeling tired. And that's not something
that's going to help any trader.
I believe that caffeine will exacerbate hypoglycemia. Different people are
affected differently. I'm not against having some caffeine.
(All this is just some very very basic info to traders who might want to study all this more.)
A partial list of quick sugars:
white sugar
brown sugar
corn syrup
maple syrup
Grapes/raisins as well, I'm pretty sure, might cause hypoglycemia.
I just found a list of many things to avoid to avoid hypoglycemia. I'm not a nutritionist so I don't know
if the list is valid or not. I don't feel comfortable just taking information I see about nutrition on-line (that I
came across in a 10 second search at Google) and posting it. Nutrition is a complex subject. We are not even all the same. Some people are allergic to whatever, while others are not. I became allergic to a particular
food a number of years ago, then that allergy apparently went away. I don't know why. I might have got an
ulcer, which eventually healed????
General info about Jack Lalanne for those that are interested in his life:
Decades before fitness began being promoted by celebrities like Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons, LaLanne was already widely recognized for publicly preaching the health benefits of regular exercise and a good diet. He published numerous books on fitness and hosted a fitness television show between 1951 and 1985. As early as 1936, at age 21, he opened one of the nation's first[3] fitness gyms in Oakland, California, which became a prototype for dozens of similar gyms using his name.[4]
It has been just about 4 weeks now. I'm still going strong, sticking with it - tracking every meal, watching exactly what I eat and what I buy at the grocery store. Have learned a lot about evil marketing to make it seem like something is healthier when it really isn't.
I've lost a few pounds, would be nice to have lost more, but I know it will come. It took a long time to put the weight on, I know it will take a long time to get it off. I am not starving myself or radically altering routines, so it is very easy to stay on this diet.
Because of my bad back, I'm presently looking into selling my treadmill which is really hard on me, and replacing it with an elliptical trainer. That is my next move.
Sounds good! A health food store might have healthier choices for you. Whole Foods is really
the only national one I know of. They are in Lakewood, Forest and Park Lane. Supposedly they
also offer on-line shopping. I don't know anything about them though, so I don't really recommend them.
Sorry about the treadmill problem. I've never used an elliptical trainer so I won't say anything about them.
Swimming is also a thought if you have a pool or access to one.
I can't see what you have in the bowl there, but that banana is definitely healthy. (hee, hee)
that is the right attitude... 1lbs per week max is what you want to loose without sacrificing your body...
you should also look at a step climber... I like it the best, that and row machines, but if you have a bad back I would stay away from a rowing machine.
oh, one more thing... IMO, when it comes to exercise equipment, one gets what one pays for... so higher quality that will last you a lot longer, depending how long you plan to have it for, will cost you more...
