I have been searching for an unbounded stochastics indicator that does not cap the values between 0 and 100. There is a formula on the Investor/RT website, but I cannot get it to work on NT. Give a shout, if anyone knows such an indicator for NT.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Thanks @Fat Tails. I actually meant to say DoubleStochatics, but it looks like the behavior that I wanted. Would your changes apply just as easily to the DoubleStochastics?
I did not find any formula for an unbounded double stochastics, so I could not check whether I produced a useful indicator or committed a crime against the trading community.
Thanks again. I was expecting it to look the same except at the extremes where the bounded version generally flattens out, but there seems to also be some differences in other areas as well. I'll try to do some historical test with it to see how usable it is.
Backtesting will never tell you if you will be profitable in the future. That would be nice, wouldn't be? We would all be rich, right? Those brothers who came up with that old backtesting program and then Tradestation would own the world by now. No, it ain't that easy, I'm afraid...
I wrote an unbounded version of the CCI... it turned into an MACD ...
I remember when TradeStation first got started and traders were worried that TS was monitoring their back testing and strategy development .... and stealing their trading ideas...
I'm just a simple man trading a simple plan.
My daddy always said, "Every day above ground is a good day!"
Agreed. I used a poor choice of words. I personally use backtests to weed about bad concepts that have no chance of making money. If you have a backtest with good stats all around (and there are various stats and backtesting concepts to look at), then it tells you, you have a better chance of being profitable with that method, but still no guarantees. The only things that are guaranteed are death and taxes.
