S&P emini's and news events

I was wondering if anyone could tell me which news announcements typically influence the s&p. I see the listing for news announcements and sometimes nothing happens, other times the market goes crazy for a while. I have simply been avoiding trades near announcements, but some more definitive idea of what is likely to be signifigant would help. Thanks, Dale
